XRP Edges Closer to $1.05 Trough as Ripple’s EU Regulatory Advance Fails to Stem Risk-Off Rout

XRP slides to $1.07, close to its 52-week low, as Bitcoin rout fuels broad altcoin sell-off, even as Ripple secures a provisional MiCA license in Luxembourg and ledger activity surges.

A brutal wave of selling rippling through the crypto market has dragged XRP within striking distance of its 52-week low. The token last changed hands at $1.07, a level that represents a 43% collapse since the start of the year and leaves it just two cents above the trough of $1.05 set earlier this month. The trigger was Bitcoin’s slide to its weakest point in 21 months, a move that swept Ethereum, Solana and XRP into a broad altcoin downdraft as investors fled risk assets across the board.

Amid the carnage, Ripple secured a significant regulatory foothold in Europe. Luxembourg’s Commission de Surveillance du Secteur Financier (CSSF) has issued the company a so?called “Green Light Letter” — a provisional license to operate as a Crypto Asset Service Provider under the European Union’s MiCA framework. Once final conditions are satisfied, Ripple intends to roll out crypto payment services across the entire European Economic Area. The license does not directly cover the XRP token but underpins Ripple’s payment infrastructure, which the company will combine with its existing EU e?money license to give banks and fintechs a single gateway for crypto?enabled payments. Both XRP and Ripple’s in?house stablecoin RLUSD will serve as the technical backbone for those transactions.

Yet network activity tells a very different story from the price chart. Daily transactions on the XRP Ledger jumped 35% in the spring, averaging about 2.48 million. The market capitalisation of RLUSD has swelled to more than $340 million, while the total value of tokenised assets on the ledger has doubled to over $2 billion. These fundamental gains, however, have done nothing to shield the token from macro?economic headwinds. The crypto sector is caught in a broad?based flight from risky bets that has also hit semiconductor and AI stocks.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying XRP?

Technical indicators underscore the depth of the retreat. The 200?day moving average now sits nearly 30% above the current price, a gap that reflects the momentum of the sell?off. Trader focus has narrowed to a single line in the sand: the psychological $1.00 mark, a level that has held since the US presidential election in 2024. A break below that would open the door to another leg of losses. For now, the $1.05 floor is the only support standing between XRP and that threshold.

The weakness on spot exchanges has mirrored into regulated products. Funds such as the Bitwise XRP ETF and the REX?Osprey vehicle have tracked the spot decline, proving that an ETF wrapper offers no insulation from the underlying asset’s volatility — it merely makes the swings tradeable within a conventional brokerage account.

Ripple’s European regulatory milestone may eventually translate into tangible token demand as real?world payment flows ramp up. But in the current environment, liquidity and risk appetite are calling the shots. For XRP to stabilise, the broader market — led by Bitcoin — needs to see capital trickle back in first. Until then, the narrative of regulatory progress remains a side note to the brutal reality of the chart.
