A €9.3 Billion Dividend ETF Nears Its High-Water Mark as Income Hunters Pile In

The hunt for dependable yield is pushing a European-listed dividend fund into record territory. The VanEck Morningstar Developed Markets Dividend Leaders UCITS ETF has swelled to €9.3 billion in assets under management, a milestone the asset manager confirmed on 18 August 2026 — a day after the fund touched its 52-week high.
That peak of €55.76 per share, reached on 17 August, came as the fund's share price settled at €55.31 in the most recent session, a mere 0.8 percent below that mark. Wednesday's modest 0.5 percent dip did little to disturb a picture that has seen the fund hover near its all-time high for weeks.
A Portfolio Built on Cash Generators
The fund's appeal rests on a straightforward premise: track the 100 highest-dividend-paying large-cap companies in developed markets, but only those with the financial muscle to keep writing those checks. The physical replication of the Morningstar Developed Markets Large Cap Dividend Leaders Screened Select Index leans heavily on financials and telecoms, with the top ten holdings accounting for roughly 34.6 percent of the portfolio.
Verizon Communications leads the pack at 4.77 percent, followed by HSBC Holdings at 4.60 percent and Nestlé at 3.94 percent. Pfizer, Shell and TotalEnergies round out the heavyweight positions. The average market capitalisation of the underlying companies sits near $113.5 billion — this is a fund that defines itself by scale and stability rather than growth narratives.
That positioning is showing up in the technicals. The share price trades 8.6 percent above its 200-day moving average of €51.16, while the relative strength index at 63.2 suggests momentum remains constructive without flashing overbought signals. Annualised volatility over the past 30 trading days has held at a low 7.6 percent, a reflection of the stabilising influence of large, income-generating blue chips in choppier markets.
A Year of Strong Returns and Steady Payouts
The asset growth reflects both fresh inflows and a robust performance run. The fund is up 15 percent since the start of the year and 23 percent over twelve months — gains that have drawn in both institutional and retail investors looking for income in an environment of resilient corporate earnings.
The distribution calendar remains a key part of the story. The fund pays out quarterly, having delivered €1.17 per share so far in 2026: a €0.81 dividend declared in May with an ex-date of 3 June and payment on 10 June, plus a €0.36 payout in March. The next distribution is scheduled for 3 September 2026 at €0.36 per share, which would push the year-to-date total toward €1.53 and closer to the €1.50 milestone. The underlying index's estimated dividend yield stands at roughly 5.86 percent.
Documentation Updates and Screening Criteria
VanEck refreshed the fund's prospectus and key information documents (KID/KIID) at the end of July — a routine but legally significant update for investors. The fund's screening process excludes companies involved in controversial business activities or those violating UN Global Compact principles, a filter that has not come at the expense of income generation.
The fund, which has been distributing since its launch in May 2016, remains the only European-domiciled vehicle tracking this specific Morningstar index. Its total expense ratio of 0.38 percent per year, combined with a quarterly payout cadence and a portfolio of established dividend payers, continues to position it as a primary destination for income-focused investors. No structural changes to the index composition or fee schedule have been announced.
