Airbus Notches Spanish C295 Order as October Bookings and Deliveries Reinforce Year-End Targets
Published on 11/07/2026 at 03:31 | Editorial boerse-global.deSpain has placed an order for 18 C295 aircraft, Airbus announced, with the company framing the deal as support for the modernization of the Spanish air and space forces. The contract lands squarely in Airbus's military business, adding to a defence order book that has been filling out steadily through the autumn.
That same defence pipeline got a boost on Tuesday when France's procurement agency, the DGA, qualified the vertical take-off and landing variant of the U010 Aliaca drone for service. The qualification falls under the French Navy's SMDM contract, and Airbus noted that the first two systems had already been handed over to the Navy in September. Eight of the 34 systems ordered by the DGA will be equipped with the VTOL configuration.
Commercial Aircraft: October Bookings and the Road to 870
On the civil side, Airbus logged 202 gross orders in October, according to Reuters, lifting its gross order tally since the start of the year to 1,376 aircraft. The manufacturer delivered 74 commercial jets to 45 customers during the month, bringing the January-through-October total to 621 handovers.
Full-year guidance for 2026 remains at roughly 870 deliveries. Hitting that mark means Airbus must still hand over 249 aircraft across November and December — a sprint that leaves little slack in the schedule.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Airbus?
Investors took the updates in stride rather than celebrating them. The stock slipped 0.9% on Friday to close at €195.88, ending the session lower despite the order and delivery disclosures.
Satellites, Helicopters and a Joint Venture
Beyond the headline Spanish contract, Airbus booked a range of smaller wins. On 27 October it won an order for two additional second-generation Galileo satellites, supplementing an existing six-satellite purchase. The same day brought a firm order from Atlantic Airways for two A320neo jets, while Boston MedFlight signed for three H145 helicopters — taking its cumulative H145 purchases to twelve, per Airbus. A day earlier, on 26 October, Life Flight Network ordered five H135 helicopters.
In the services arena, Airbus and Air France-KLM established a 50-50 joint venture, Alpha Component Solutions, on 28 October. The business provides worldwide component support for the A350 and, according to its own figures, serves more than 500 aircraft under contract.

Training Push Targets India
Pilot training has emerged as another front. Airbus and India's Blue Angels Air signed an agreement to prepare aspiring commercial pilots for the Indian market, with instruction to be delivered through the Airbus Flight Academy network. The first cadets are slated to begin in Tunisia in 2027.
Digital training tools are being folded into the same effort. Skywise, an Airbus subsidiary, expanded its portfolio on Monday with the MATe Suite, the Virtual Procedure Trainer and Flight eLearning — a set of products Airbus describes as extended digital solutions for flight instruction.
