Allianz Plots Lloyd's Syndicate and Mercedes-Benz Win as Q3 Print Approaches
Published on 11/06/2026 at 09:31 | Editorial boerse-global.deAllianz is lining up new distribution channels on two fronts while preparing to report third-quarter results next month, with a planned Lloyd's syndicate and a freshly won carmaker account adding to the flow of announcements out of Munich this week.
Allianz Commercial said it intends to establish a direct insurance syndicate at Lloyd's under the name "Allianz Commercial 1893," with operations slated to begin on January 1, 2027, subject to final regulatory approval. Lloyd's has already granted approval in principle, though the definitive green light is still outstanding. Thomas Lillelund, who heads Allianz Commercial, told the Handelsblatt that the venture is meant to expand the unit's specialty insurance business and open up business that cannot be reached through the open market.
On the retail side, the group has taken over the insurance business of Mercedes-Benz Bank. According to media reports, the bank restructured its insurance operations and ended a 16-year partnership with HDI, with Allianz stepping in as the new partner with immediate effect on October 27.
Brand Value Holds Top Spot
Allianz put its own brand value at USD 30.7 billion, good for 26th place in the Interbrand "Best Global Brands 2026" ranking. By the company's own account, it has now been the world's most valuable insurance brand for eight consecutive years.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Allianz?
The group's asset management arm also closed a fundraising round. Allianz Global Investors reported on Tuesday the final close of its Infrastructure Credit Opportunities Fund II, with investor commitments reaching EUR 1.5 billion against an original target of EUR 1 billion.
Personnel Move in France
Allianz France named Birgit Bacher as chief operating officer and member of the executive committee on Tuesday. She takes up the post on November 19, 2026, succeeding Julien Martinez.
On the sustainability front, Allianz published its Green Transition Tracker 2026 on Wednesday. The report finds that global progress toward net zero is too slow to meet climate targets, although renewable energy overtook coal in 2025 as the world's largest source of electricity. At the current pace, the tracker projects global CO2 neutrality would not be reached until 2064.
Analysts Look for EUR 4.3 Billion
Investor attention now turns to November 12, when Allianz is scheduled to release its third-quarter 2026 results. The quarterly statement is due at 7:00, followed by a media conference at 9:30 and an analyst call at 14:30. Analysts polled by media outlets on Tuesday expect operating profit of EUR 4.3 billion on average — an estimate for the upcoming release rather than a reported figure.
Shares slipped 0.8% in pre-market trading on Thursday.
