Allianz Reshuffles Sales Leadership and Home Cover While a Bayern Stake Shrinks and a Greek Bank Deal Awaits Approval

Allianz's FC Bayern stake will dilute to just under 7.8% via a capital increase, while a 30% Greek bancassurance stake purchase awaits closing conditions.

Allianz investors have a cluster of ownership and operational developments to sort through this week, and the two categories should not be confused. On the corporate side, the insurer's slice of FC Bayern München AG is set to thin out as a new investor comes aboard. On the operating side, Allianz has rolled out a revamped household contents policy, confirmed a sales-board handover, and lined up a bancassurance tie-up in Greece that has yet to clear its closing conditions.

The Bayern change is a matter of dilution, not disposal. According to a Handelsblatt report published Thursday, the Viessmann Generations Group is taking the last available stake in the FC Bayern München AG through a capital increase, which trims the holdings of existing shareholders — Allianz among them — from 8.33% to just under 7.8%. The report puts the possible proceeds for FC Bayern at EUR 250 million. That money would flow to the football club, so it does not represent sale proceeds for Allianz; the insurer's share of the business simply becomes a smaller slice of a larger equity base.

The Greek transaction is a different animal altogether. Allianz and the National Bank of Greece have signed a share purchase agreement covering a 30% minority stake in Allianz European Reliance, alongside a long-term exclusive bancassurance partnership between the bank and Allianz Greece. Closing remains subject to customary conditions, including regulatory approvals, with the partnership expected to launch at the start of 2027. Here a stake purchase and a distribution agreement arrive in a single package — unlike the Bayern dilution, which involves no sale by Allianz at all.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Allianz?

New Cover, New Sales Leadership

On the product front, Allianz Versicherungs-AG has introduced a revised private household contents insurance offering built around optional benefit modules. Customers can now tailor both the scope of cover and their own deductible, giving them three levers — plan selection, add-on modules and the excess — to shape their individual protection. The change is a product measure rather than a reported improvement in revenue or earnings.

Organisationally, Sören Kupke will take over as board member for sales at Allianz Lebensversicherungs-AG on 1 January 2027, the company announced on 7 October. He will simultaneously become board member for broker sales at Allianz Private Krankenversicherungs-AG. Thomas Wiesemann leaves both boards on 31 December 2026, so the handover of sales responsibility at the two entities is timed for the turn of the year.

These initiatives run on separate clocks: the household cover revamp is already live, while the leadership change and the Greek partnership point to next year. That distinction matters because a product overhaul and a transaction still awaiting completion sit at very different stages of the process.

Valuation Stays a Separate Question

JPMorgan kept Allianz at "Neutral" on Thursday with a price target of EUR 460. The next scheduled release of hard business figures is 12 November, when the group reports third-quarter 2026 results. Product design, organisational appointments and the future bank distribution channel all describe operating steps; their economic impact has to be judged on its own, apart from how the shares are valued day to day.
