Allianz Trade Sees German Insolvencies Peaking Only in 2028 as Insurer Broadens Its Distribution Reach
Published on 10/30/2026 at 21:10 | Editorial boerse-global.deAllianz investors received two very different signals this week: a sobering insolvency forecast for Europe's largest economy and a pair of partnership moves that quietly expand the insurer's reach. The common thread is that neither development translates directly into a line on the earnings statement.
Allianz Trade expects German corporate insolvencies to climb 8% to 25,900 cases in 2026, the credit insurer said Wednesday. Rather than a short-lived spike followed by a quick rebound, the forecast points to a plateau at an elevated level. Case numbers are seen holding steady in 2027, with a genuine turn in the trend not arriving until 2028. Those are projections, not settled outcomes.
The gloom is not confined to Germany. In its insolvency outlook published Tuesday, Allianz Research projected a 5% rise in the global insolvency index for 2026, suggesting the German picture fits a broader pattern rather than standing alone.
For anyone holding the stock, the distinction matters. The insolvency forecast describes the economic environment; it is neither a profit warning from Allianz itself nor an estimate of specific charges the group will bear. Rising case counts alone cannot be used to derive a particular earnings trajectory.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Allianz?
Analysts Split on the Earnings Path
Recent broker actions underline how differently the market reads Allianz's prospects. Berenberg reaffirmed its buy rating on Monday with a price target of 684 euros, dismissing fears that AI assistants will displace the insurer's distribution force as premature. The bank also argued that Allianz can reach the upper end of its 2026 profit target range despite heavier natural catastrophe losses — an optimistic expectation, not confirmation of results already booked.
JPMorgan took a more cautious line, restating its neutral rating and a 460 euro target on October 22 while modestly trimming its 2026 operating profit estimate ahead of the quarterly figures.
New Mandates at the Point of Sale
On the business development front, Allianz Partners and the TUI Group extended their strategic partnership for a further four years, effective November 1, 2026 — continuity with an existing partner rather than a change of bedfellow.
The Mercedes-Benz Bank in Germany tells a different story. According to Reuters, Allianz Versicherungs-AG replaced HDI as the bank's insurance partner with immediate effect on Tuesday, taking on the risk carrier role and embedding its cover into the vehicle purchase process. One announcement is about keeping a relationship alive; the other is about winning a competitor's slot. The distinction deserves more weight than the simple count of new partnership headlines, and neither deal can yet be translated into a specific earnings contribution.
Allianz at a turning point? This analysis reveals what investors need to know now.
A Brand Worth $30.7 Billion
Separately, Allianz said it reached a brand value of 30.7 billion US dollars in the Interbrand ranking, placing 26th and marking a 9% increase on the prior year. That measures something other than premiums or profit — a stronger brand is not booked revenue, and it should not be read as the financial payoff from the extended or newly won partnerships.
November 12 as the Next Real Test
The company publishes third-quarter 2026 results on November 12 at 07:00. Until then, the insolvency forecast serves mainly as a reminder not to mistake stabilization for recovery, while the partnership news offers concrete reference points for assessing the business — with the caveat that commercial reach, brand valuation and actual results remain three separate things.
