Amazon's Order Book Stretches to 2028 as Anthropic Commits $110 Billion to AWS
Published on 10/27/2026 at 08:40 | Editorial boerse-global.deAnthropic has pledged to spend at least $110 billion on Amazon's cloud services over the next seven to ten years, a commitment disclosed in the AI developer's IPO filings and reported by Reuters. The arrangement locks in long-term use of Amazon Web Services and hands the cloud unit one of its largest forward revenue anchors.
Infrastructure partners are moving in the same direction. Verizon has struck an AI infrastructure agreement with AWS worth more than $2 billion, under which the telecom group will supply high-capacity fiber connections for Amazon's data centers. The deal surfaced a day before the Anthropic disclosure became public.
Capacity Sold Out Well Into the Future
Andy Jassy said on Friday that AWS cloud capacity is largely sold out through the end of 2027, with substantial customer commitments extending into 2028, according to Reuters. The Amazon chief pointed to demand for artificial intelligence infrastructure as the driver. AI-related demand, by his account, is running ahead of what the company can supply.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Amazon?
Wall Street has been repositioning accordingly. UBS lifted its price target on Amazon to $348 from $318 and kept its Buy rating, a move that lands ahead of quarterly results scheduled for October 29. Morgan Stanley had already raised its own target on October 19, taking it to $350 from $335, while naming Amazon one of its preferred stocks. UBS left its rating untouched; both houses now sit above their previous marks.
A $16 Billion German Buildout
Amazon said on October 20 that it intends to invest more than EUR 16 billion in Germany during 2027. Of that total, EUR 4.8 billion is earmarked for expanding the AWS Europe region in Frankfurt, funding cloud and AI infrastructure. These are announced investment plans rather than completed outlays.
The same day brought word of a hiring push for the holiday season: more than 300,000 positions in the United States, spanning seasonal, part-time and full-time roles in the company's core operations. Reuters reported that the move marks the first expansion of Amazon's seasonal recruitment in three years. Eligible seasonal workers will also receive health coverage from their first day of employment starting January 1, 2027.
Amazon has slated the release of its third-quarter 2026 results, along with the accompanying conference call, for Thursday.
