AMD's Rebound Faces Its Real Test on November 3
Published on 10/20/2026 at 05:40 | Editorial boerse-global.deAMD shares climbed 2.6% to EUR 482.95 in German trading, extending a 2.0% gain from the prior session that had closed at EUR 479.90, as a broad recovery in the US semiconductor sector clawed back part of the previous week's losses.
The rally owed nothing to company-specific news. According to Reuters, retreating US Treasury yields and softening crude oil prices eased pressure on technology valuations, while AI and chip names led the rebound on Wall Street. A JPMorgan upgrade of rival Intel added further fuel to the sector, according to media reports.
The timing mattered. Days of anxiety over financing costs had weighed heavily on tech multiples, and confidence in the artificial intelligence segment has now returned on hopes that major customers will keep capital expenditure running high.
TD Cowen Holds the Line at $675
Analyst support reinforced the move. Joshua Buchalter of TD Cowen reiterated his "Buy" rating and kept his price target unchanged at $675, citing growing market acceptance of agentic AI and rising utilization from production inference workloads. That demand trend, he argued, underpins AMD's strategic position in the contest for hardware built for complex model architectures.
The company's own roadmap points the same way. On October 12, AMD unveiled Helion, a new open reference architecture for rack-scale AI infrastructure built on Open Compute Project concepts and designed to run future AI agents. Systems in pure CPU and combined CPU-GPU configurations are being developed with partners and are slated for availability in November 2026, according to company statements.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying AMD?
Capacity Talks in Korea
Management is working just as hard on securing supply. Lisa Su stressed on October 7 that AMD continues to explore options for partnerships with Samsung Electronics in chip manufacturing and memory. She described data-center demand as still robust.
Executives have also held talks in South Korea with Samsung and SK Hynix to lock in supplies of advanced memory chips for coming accelerator generations.
One insider filing drew attention without altering the picture: Forrest E. Norrod, a senior AMD executive, registered the planned sale of 17,262 shares via Form 144 on October 15. Such filings are merely statements of intent and routine portfolio diversification at US corporate suites, not a signal of operational weakness.
The November 3 Verdict
Risks remain in view. The path back to the 52-week high of EUR 584.80 is demanding, volatility in semiconductors runs high, and the macro relief could reverse quickly if bond yields or commodity markets turn again.
The decisive moment comes on November 3, 2026, when AMD reports third-quarter 2026 results after the US close. Only then will it be clear whether optimistic expectations for the new data-center solutions and inference demand are already showing up in hard numbers. A disappointing management outlook could see the market surrender the recent gains in short order.
For now, the combination of easing macro pressure, the Helion positioning and TD Cowen's steady endorsement gives the rebound a solid footing. It is not yet a completed trend reversal, but it shows how fast institutional buyers return to AMD once the sector backdrop stabilizes.
