Amphenol's Split Reset Draws Wall Street's Eye as AI Orders Swell

Citi has placed Amphenol on a 90-day watch list for positive catalysts, with analyst Asiya Merchant reaffirming a Buy rating and a $105 price target on September 14. The move puts the connector maker's post-split trading range squarely in the spotlight — and for good reason.
The stock finished last week at EUR 68.06 in European trading, capping a 6.0% weekly decline. Since the start of the year, however, the shares are still up 16%. That pullback followed a 2-for-1 stock split completed roughly three weeks ago, a purely mechanical adjustment that doubled the share count and halved the per-share price without altering shareholder value. Barclays made the arithmetic plain on September 8, revising its target split-adjusted from $200 to $100 while keeping an Overweight rating. Since the split, the stock has slipped 3.6%.
The Order Book Tells the Story
What the split mechanics obscure is an operating picture that keeps strengthening. Amphenol's second quarter delivered record revenue of $8.76 billion, paired with an order book that climbed to an all-time high of $10.7 billion. Management has raised its revenue forecast for the acquired CommScope CCS business to $4.6 billion, and smaller bolt-ons — including Italian cable specialist El.Com — are rounding out the portfolio in demanding interconnect applications.
The data communications and AI segment has been the standout, growing organically by 63% and quadrupling in size over two years. A broad customer base spanning defense, mobile networks and industrial markets further cushions the business against swings in any single end market.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Amphenol?
Management Sees Structural, Not Cyclical, Gains
Speaking at an industry conference, Amphenol's leadership characterized the improvement in revenue and margins as structural rather than a passing cycle. That view underpins a deliberate push into technology-heavy growth fields, with heavy global spending on data centers and military equipment positioning the company in segments that demand high technical precision.
Investors are anchoring their expectations to those disclosed figures as digitalization and rearmament spending continue worldwide. Whether the structural tailwinds hold will be measured against future delivery on revenue targets.
Dividend Confirmed, Next Report Dated
Alongside operations, Amphenol is pressing ahead with its payout policy. A mandatory filing with the SEC confirmed the formal steps taken after the share split. The cash dividend for the third quarter of 2026 stands at $0.125 per share, with a record date of September 22, 2026 and payment scheduled for October 14, 2026.

The next set of detailed business figures arrives on October 28, when the company publishes its quarterly report — a near-term date now circled on many calendars, alongside the AI and defense-electronics demand trends that remain the central yardstick for shareholders.
