Augsburg Raids: Drugs Probe Launched as 50 Officers Sweep Four Businesses

A routine compliance check in Augsburg turned into a criminal investigation after officers searching four commercial premises found illegal narcotics in one of them.
Roughly 50 officials from the Schwaben Nord police headquarters, customs and the city administration took part in the cross-agency operation, which ran from 16:00 to 22:00. Their target: businesses suspected of running afoul of a long list of regulations.
What they documented across the four properties, according to a report dated 23 September 2026, was a catalogue of breaches — shortcomings in occupational safety, hygiene rules and building requirements among them.
Charges Stack Up Across Multiple Laws
Inspectors flagged violations of building law, the Infection Protection Act, and food and food hygiene regulations. They also raised objections under the Price Indication Ordinance, the Gaststättengesetz — Germany's law governing licensed premises — and the Youth Protection Act.
Customs officers, for their part, logged several irregularities that will require follow-up checks.
The most serious finding came in one of the four businesses, where officers discovered illegal drugs. Customs and the public prosecutor's office opened an investigation on suspicion of violating narcotics law, as reported on 23 and 24 September 2026.
Two people are under scrutiny: a 59-year-old Serbian national and a 40-year-old Italian national. Authorities have not disclosed the type or quantity of the substances involved, nor which of the businesses are affected.
