Aviva's Tokenized Sterling Fund Goes Live on XRP Ledger as ETF Inflows Stall and Validator Vote Slips
Published on 10/26/2026 at 16:32 | Editorial boerse-global.deAviva Investors has added a second tokenized share class to the XRP Ledger, launching a sterling-denominated vehicle on the network in partnership with Ripple. The move deepens the asset manager's blockchain footprint, but it did nothing for the token itself: XRP changed hands at 1.28 USD on the day, down 1.1%.
The distinction between fund assets parked on a ledger and demand for XRP is the thread running through this week's developments. On the same day, US spot XRP ETFs drew no net inflows, and a planned amendment to the XRP Ledger missed its activation window.
A New Class, Not a Full Fund Migration
The sterling class sits inside Aviva's Sterling (GBP) Liquidity Fund, the firm's largest fund at roughly 22 billion GBP under management. Aviva committed 50 million GBP to the tokenized share class.
That headline figure should not be read as capital moved onto the blockchain. The full fund was not transferred to the XRP Ledger; the launch covers an additional share class within the existing structure. According to Aviva Investors and Ripple, the two tokenized classes combined hold more than 86 million GBP, with the first — for the USD Liquidity Fund — having gone live in July 2026.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying XRP?
The Irish UCITS money market fund keeps its original setup, with a digital representation of its shares issued on-chain. Investors retain the same investment objectives, risk profile, liquidity characteristics and regulatory protections as the existing fund, Ripple said. BNY Mellon custodies the underlying fund assets, Komainu handles digital custody and Licuido supplies the tokenization infrastructure. Access is limited to eligible investors with digital wallets; no public listing or unrestricted retail trading has been announced.
ETF Demand Pauses After a Four-Day Run
Flow data told a more mixed story for the token. US spot XRP ETFs took in a net 4.3 million USD between Monday of last week and Thursday, according to issuer creation and redemption figures reported today. Friday added nothing.
That leaves demand through the funds demonstrated but not uninterrupted — and the report covers only a limited window, so it supports neither a case for sustained buying nor one for investors heading for the exits. Ripple's expanding product suite does not automatically translate into fresh token demand either. The firm's Ripple Prime offering, for instance, trades around the clock and gives clients access to contracts on products listed by Trade.xyz on Hyperliquid, with Ripple's RLUSD usable as collateral where permitted. XRP was not named as required collateral or a settlement currency, so the service broadens institutional access without evidencing additional XRP need.

Ledger Fix Misses Its Date as Support Drops
On the technical side, the fixCleanup3_4_0 amendment failed to activate on Friday as scheduled. Validator backing had fallen to 26 of 35, short of the 29 votes required. That restarted the approval phase, and the 14-day window now points to activation on 4 November at 14:46 UTC — provided support holds for the full period. The new date is therefore no firm commitment.
Two concrete tests now matter for XRP: whether the funds resume pulling in net money, and whether the ledger change keeps its validator support. Ripple's broader product line substitutes for neither.
