Bayer has stacked up a busy autumn of disclosures, and the most consequential of them sits in the prostate cancer franchise. An interim readout from the Phase III DASL-HiCaP trial shows that adding darolutamid to standard treatment cut the risk of metastases or death by 58% in patients with high relapse risk, according to company figures.

The design is familiar enough: darolutamid was layered on top of androgen deprivation therapy and radiotherapy, with a placebo arm serving as the comparator. The 58% reduction applies specifically to metastasis or death within that high-risk population.

Absolute numbers round out the picture. Bayer put the four-year metastasis-free survival rate at 95% for patients on darolutamid, against 88% in the placebo group. Both the relative risk reduction and the raw patient shares after four years were disclosed by the company.

Kidney data lands at ASN Kidney Week

Away from oncology, Bayer presented findings on finerenon from the Phase III FIND-CKD study. The company reported consistent effects on proteinuria and on the loss of kidney function, with the results covering patient groups living with chronic kidney disease without diabetes. The data were shown at ASN Kidney Week 2026.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Bayer?

On the agricultural side, Bayer published a study examining the competitiveness of farming across the European Union and the United Kingdom. Its conclusion: production growth in European arable farming is trailing the expansion seen in key agricultural markets. The analysis keeps its focus squarely on how competitive agriculture is in the two regions surveyed.

JPMorgan stays put ahead of the numbers

Analyst positioning has not shifted. JPMorgan reaffirmed its "Overweight" rating on Bayer on 16 October, keeping a price target of 61 euros. No change to either the rating or the target accompanied the call, which came ahead of the upcoming quarterly report. The stock closed Friday at €43.92.

UBS also weighed in with a note tied to the same pending release. Bayer has scheduled its third-quarter 2026 results for 3 November, with the report due at 07:30 CET and a conference call with analysts set for 14:00 CET that same day. For investors, that date stands as the next confirmed item on the corporate calendar.

Science awards open the month

Bayer's foundation side made its own news on 14 October, when the Bayer Foundation honoured five researchers with the Science Awards 2026. The Otto Bayer Prize went to plant scientist Sarah O'Connor — the first time the foundation has handed out an award in the plant sciences.
