Bayer's Pharma Beat Lifts Guidance as Two Brokerages Raise Their Targets
Published on 11/06/2026 at 05:21 | Editorial boerse-global.deBayer's pharmaceutical division did more than steady the ship last quarter — it beat expectations and pushed the German group to lift its full-year outlook. The market's response came fast: the stock climbed 2.5% today, building on a 2.6% advance the previous session, as two major brokerages moved their price targets higher within 24 hours of each other.
At the heart of the re-rating is a third-quarter performance that topped consensus. Pharma revenue reached EUR 4.68 billion in Q3 2026, coming in 5% above estimates in the Vara Research survey cited by Reuters. Management identified the division as the principal engine behind both the stronger-than-expected group result and the upgraded annual forecast.
Group revenue for the quarter totaled EUR 10.053 billion, a nominal increase of 4.1%. Stripping out currency and portfolio effects, sales grew 1.9%. Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization, adjusted for special items, rose 6.9% to EUR 1.615 billion — pairing top-line expansion with a firmer operating profit.
Guidance Moves in Two Places
Bayer now projects group EBITDA before special items of EUR 9.8 billion to EUR 10.3 billion for the year, up from a prior range of EUR 9.6 billion to EUR 10.1 billion. The forecast assumes constant exchange rates. On the same day, the company raised its margin target for Pharmaceuticals, guiding to 25% to 27% for 2026.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Bayer?
Free cash flow also got a brighter read. Bayer expects a figure between negative EUR 1.5 billion and negative EUR 0.5 billion, an improvement on the earlier projection of negative EUR 2.5 billion to negative EUR 1.5 billion. The company simultaneously held out the prospect of lower net financial debt.
Analysts Respond
DZ Bank lifted its fair value for Bayer from EUR 60 to EUR 64 and reiterated its buy rating. Analyst Peter Spengler pointed to operational stabilization, debt reduction and progress on US legal risks. UBS followed on Wednesday, raising its price target from EUR 62 to EUR 66 while keeping a buy recommendation, citing momentum in the pharmaceutical business among its reasons.
The legal front offered its own catalyst. On October 30, a Missouri jury ruled unanimously in favor of Bayer subsidiary Monsanto in the first Roundup trial since the US Supreme Court's decision in the Durnell case. Three plaintiffs had argued that the glyphosate-based herbicide caused their cancers. Reuters described the outcome as an early signal for how remaining claims might fare.
Bayer at a turning point? This analysis reveals what investors need to know now.
Investors awaiting the next set of hard numbers should mark February 24, 2027 — the date media reports expect Bayer to publish its fourth-quarter 2026 results, though the timing remains an estimate.
