Bayer's Pipeline Delivers Fresh Kidney and Prostate Data While Analysts Brace for a Softer Farm Quarter
Published on 10/25/2026 at 06:41 | Editorial boerse-global.deBayer has given itself a busy November 3. The German life-sciences group will publish its third-quarter 2026 interim report at 07:30 CET that morning, follow with a media update at 10:00 CET, and close the day with an investor video call at 14:00 CET. The date matters because it will be the first hard look at whether the agricultural division's timing issues have dented a year that analysts still expect to hold together.
Two Banks, One Worry
Ahead of the release, both JPMorgan and UBS have flagged softness in the crop-science business without touching their positive ratings. JPMorgan's Richard Vosser kept Bayer at "Overweight" with a EUR 61 price target on October 16, cautioning that early market expectations for the third quarter may be running too high. He pinned the gap on timing effects in the agricultural segment, though he sees little change to full-year estimates as a result.
UBS's Matthew Weston followed a day earlier, on October 15, reaffirming a "Buy" rating and a EUR 62 target. Weston likewise pointed to weakness in the agriculture division but described the trends for 2026 and 2027 as intact. He also expects momentum in the pharmaceuticals business to have carried through the period.
Kidney Drug Shows Benefit Across Subgroups
The pharma side has supplied most of the recent news flow. Bayer reported on Thursday that new subgroup analyses from the Phase III FIND-CKD trial of finerenone showed kidney-protective effects versus placebo across different patient groups with chronic kidney disease without diabetes, including FSGS and IgAN. In the FSGS cohort specifically, albuminuria fell 40% against placebo after twelve months, while proteinuria dropped 41% over the same period.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Bayer?
Those findings build on a regulatory milestone from roughly two weeks earlier: the US Food and Drug Administration accepted Bayer's supplemental application for finerenone in chronic kidney disease without diabetes, based on positive FIND-CKD results. Bayer said further subgroup analyses showed consistent effects on proteinuria and loss of kidney function in patients without diabetes, and the data were presented at ASN Kidney Week 2026.
Prostate Cancer Combination Cuts Risk
Bayer also released an interim analysis from a Phase III trial of darolutamide, testing the drug alongside androgen deprivation therapy and radiotherapy in prostate cancer patients at high risk of recurrence. On the combined endpoint of metastases or death, the treatment reduced risk by 58% compared with placebo.
A Policy Warning Alongside the Science
Away from the clinic, Bayer published a study roughly two weeks ago on global agricultural competitiveness, concluding that the European Union and the United Kingdom risk falling further behind. The company cited slower growth in crop production than in several major agricultural markets.

For investors, the lab and the ledger remain on separate clocks. The clinical wins are in hand; the quarterly numbers arrive on November 3.
