Bayer's Three-Day Run of Clinical and Regulatory Wins Sets Up a November 3 Reckoning
Published on 10/29/2026 at 12:31 | Editorial boerse-global.deBayer packed an unusual amount of news into a single weekend and the Monday that followed: a late-stage prostate cancer readout, fresh kidney-disease subgroup data, and a first-in-China approval for an anticoagulant. By Monday morning, the market had noticed.
The most closely watched item was darolutamide, sold as Nubeqa. In an interim analysis of the Phase III DASL-HiCaP trial, the drug cut the risk of metastasis or death by 58% versus placebo when added to androgen deprivation therapy and radiotherapy in prostate cancer patients at high risk of recurrence. Bayer reported the figures on Sunday.
The four-year metastasis-free survival rate came in at 95% for patients on the drug, against 88% for those on placebo. The trial's combined endpoint captures both the emergence of metastases and death. Bayer stressed that the findings stem from an interim look rather than the final analysis of the study.
Kidney Data Landed Days Earlier
Separately, Bayer released new subgroup analyses from the Phase III FIND-CKD trial on October 22. The data, presented at ASN Kidney Week 2026, covered patients with chronic kidney disease who do not have diabetes. According to the company, the analyses showed consistent effects on proteinuria and on the decline in kidney function, alongside advantages in kidney protection relative to placebo.

The kidney readout drew less attention than the oncology data but adds to the case for finerenone's label expansion.
China Clears Asundexian
Monday brought the regulatory headline. China's NMPA granted accelerated approval to asundexian under the brand name Sunharbo, for reducing stroke risk in adults who have suffered a non-cardioembolic ischemic stroke or a high-risk transient ischemic attack. Bayer described the compound as the first factor XIa inhibitor available in China.
dpa-AFX attributed the stock's firm Monday morning trading to a combination of the China green light and the positive Nubeqa trial results.

JPMorgan Stands Pat
JPMorgan reaffirmed its "Overweight" rating on Bayer and its EUR 61 price target on Monday, according to dpa-AFX. Neither the investment verdict nor the target changed.
Attention now shifts to November 3, when Bayer publishes its quarterly statement and third-quarter 2026 results at 7:30 a.m. CET. An investor video call is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. CET the same day, with a media briefing also on the calendar.
