The British Red Cross has begun rolling out two-day First Aid at Work requalification courses across the UK, including sessions in Preston, to help businesses stay compliant with mandatory workplace safety standards. The training, which started on 27 August 2026, is aimed at professionals who need to renew their first aid certificates before they lapse — a legal requirement for many employers under health and safety law.

Nationwide Training Rollout
The requalification programme is running simultaneously at multiple venues across the country. Alongside the session at the British Red Cross Centre in Preston, training is taking place at facilities in Hull, Ayr (Prestwick) and Southampton, with a further course hosted at the Holiday Inn in Guildford.
Each course follows a structured timetable, running from 9:00 to 17:00 over two consecutive days and concluding on 28 August 2026. The training costs £322.80 per person, with attendance capped at a maximum of 12 participants per session to ensure focused instruction and compliance with safety protocols.

Compliance and Certification Standards
The curriculum is designed to be fully compliant with Health and Safety Executive (HSE) requirements, ensuring participants meet their legal obligations for workplace first aid provision. Under UK regulations, employers must ensure their first aiders hold a valid certificate, and this requalification course allows designated staff to refresh their skills and knowledge in line with the latest medical and regulatory guidance.
Upon successful completion of the intensive two-day course, attendees receive a certificate valid for three years. The British Red Cross continues to use its network of regional centres and partner venues to deliver these essential services to businesses across the country.
