BYD's Product Calendar Tightens as Fang Cheng Bao Surges and Han Stumbles

BYD is stacking up model launches for the final stretch of 2026, a pipeline that gives investors a firm date to watch but also exposes how uneven demand has become across its own line-up. The Fang Cheng Bao Ti 9 is slated to hit the market after November 15, 2026, with the Shark pickup following in late November or early December, according to CarNewsChina.

Demonstration and test vehicles for the Ti 9 are expected at dealers by the end of October, putting the rollout within weeks. Neither model has published pricing or equipment lists yet, so their competitive positioning in China's crowded market cannot be assessed.

Under the sheet metal, the Ti 9 pairs a combustion engine with two electric motors and all-wheel drive for a combined 400 kW. BYD quotes up to 310 kilometres of WLTC electric range — a figure covering pure-electric running of the plug-in hybrid, not total range. The Shark, a plug-in hybrid pickup, has yet to disclose battery size or electric range for its Chinese version.

A Brand Growing at Triple Digits

The launches land on top of a striking split in BYD's portfolio. Fang Cheng Bao sold roughly 126,000 vehicles in the third quarter of 2026, up 131% from the same period a year earlier. The marque also passed a cumulative 600,000 units, a milestone BYD announced on October 18, with 43,181 sales reported for September alone.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying BYD?

The Han sedan tells the opposite story. Deliveries from January to September 2026 reached 44,324, a decline of 68.86% year on year. A new catalogue from China's industry ministry reportedly already lists a further generation of the model — a sign of how quickly established nameplates can lose traction and how much development work the renewal cycle demands.

Separately, the sales chief of the Dynasty Network reported 190,139 Yuan UP deliveries worldwide in the third quarter of 2026, with monthly volumes above 60,000 in each month. That figure speaks to demand for a single model and does not translate directly into revenue or profit for the group.

Brazil Capacity Hinges on Permits

Beyond China, BYD is seeking approvals to double annual capacity at its Brazilian plant to 600,000 vehicles. Alexandre Baldy said on Friday that investment had exceeded 5.5 billion reais, and the company is targeting a local procurement share above half as it enters 2027, Reuters reported. The expansion remains contingent on permits, and planned capacity describes intended output rather than demand already booked.

Not every headline is supportive. The US military said it will bar BYD vehicles from Kadena Air Base in Japan starting October 26, according to Reuters.

What the Share Move Does and Doesn't Say

BYD shares rose 4.4% on Friday, catching a broad advance among Hong Kong-listed new energy vehicle makers rather than reacting to any single company-specific trigger — a distinction worth keeping in mind, since rivals climbed alongside it.

For investors, the coming weeks offer a concrete calendar: dealer stock of the Ti 9 by late October, a market launch after November 15, and the Shark before the year turns. Whether that pipeline converts into durable volume will depend on pricing and specification decisions BYD has not yet disclosed. The Fang Cheng Bao numbers suggest the group can find buyers for fresh products; the Han's slide shows how fast an ageing line can lose them.
