The Czechoslovak Group is sending a clear signal about its global ambitions on two fronts this week: a heavyweight industry appointment at board level and a new manufacturing hub for unmanned aircraft propulsion in Central Bohemia.

Ben Hudson, a veteran of BAE Systems, Rheinmetall and Hanwha Europe, will step into the role of deputy chairman of the supervisory board on 1 August 2026. His brief covers land defence strategy and technology research, while he continues as chief executive of the Land Systems division. The company's chief, Michal Strnad, framed the hire as evidence of CSG's intent to build a world-leading organisation run by internationally seasoned managers.

Investors responded with enthusiasm. The share price climbed roughly seven percent on Monday to EUR 17.81, extending a recovery that has now delivered gains of more than 22 percent over the past month. That momentum follows a volatile stretch in which the stock had closed at EUR 16.62, with a 13.90 percent advance across the preceding 30 days.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying CSG?

The appointment lands as CSG pushes ahead with a transformation from regional producer to global player employing more than 14,000 people. Recent acquisitions in the ammunition business across Europe and the United States have reshaped the group's profile, and Hudson's mandate includes overseeing the integration of newly acquired units.

Meanwhile, the group's aviation arm is expanding in a different direction. A specialised technology centre is under construction in Central Bohemia, where subsidiary AviaNera Technologies will produce jet engines and other propulsion units for the defence sector. The move deepens vertical integration in CSG's aerospace operations.

The hardware push comes paired with a software layer. UpVision, another CSG subsidiary, supplies the MAIA platform, which coordinates unmanned traffic and enables safe integration of drones into existing airspace. Together, the two initiatives position the group across both the physical and digital sides of the unmanned systems market.

Attention now turns to the August interim results, which will offer the first concrete evidence on margin stability following the heavy acquisition spree. Analysts will scrutinise early synergy effects across the enlarged network, while market observers also want to see whether the international expansion remains affordable. The cost of new factories in Europe and North America is substantial, and the group must demonstrate it can hold to its debt targets for the current financial year.
