Deutsche Telekom's Connected-Car Engine Powers Q3 Beat as Guidance and Dividend Head Higher
Published on 11/07/2026 at 16:32 | Editorial boerse-global.deDeutsche Telekom's third-quarter 2026 scorecard landed with a familiar split personality: headline customer growth flattered by machines, and bottom-line momentum strong enough to justify a raised full-year outlook and a richer payout. The Bonn-based group reported organic revenue growth of 5.5% for the quarter, with revenue reaching EUR 31.1 billion, according to figures presented on Thursday.
Adjusted EBITDA AL climbed 8.0% to EUR 12.2 billion, while adjusted net profit came in at EUR 3.0 billion, up 12.7%. On the back of that performance, the management board intends to propose a dividend of EUR 1.10 per share. Full-year guidance was lifted to roughly EUR 47.6 billion in adjusted EBITDA AL and around EUR 20.1 billion in free cash flow AL. Results for the fourth quarter and the full 2026 financial year are scheduled for release on 25 February 2027.
Machines, Not Just People, Fill the SIM Card Ledger
The German mobile business added 2.01 million active SIM cards in the quarter — but 1.69 million of those came from the prepaid segment, predominantly machine-to-machine connections for cars. Contract customers under the Telekom and Congstar brands contributed 284,000 net additions, bringing the German mobile contract base to 28.47 million.
That composition matters for anyone reading the subscriber headline as a pure consumer signal. Connected vehicles are doing much of the heavy lifting, which is why the contract business deserves separate attention: the two categories serve different purposes and carry different revenue implications. Whether the extra connections translate into durable service revenue and earnings is the question that ultimately determines their value to shareholders.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Deutsche Telekom?
Fiber Gains Outpace a Barely Moving Broadband Base
In German fixed line, the company added 190,000 fiber customers, while the total broadband base grew by just 11,000. Fiber connections were bookable for 14.4 million households and businesses, and fiber penetration stood at just under 18%.
The divergence tells its own story: the new infrastructure is drawing demand far faster than broadband overall. Classic fixed-line connections, meanwhile, fell by 86,000 during the quarter. The operational task ahead is clear — convert the enlarged technical footprint into paying customers and replace the shrinking legacy base with viable business.
Cash Conversion Lags the Profit Engine
At group level, organic service revenue rose 4.1% in the third quarter, adjusted EBITDA AL grew organically by 8%, and adjusted net profit advanced 12.7%. Free cash flow AL reached EUR 5.7 billion, up 1.4% year on year.
That gap between earnings growth and cash generation is the number to watch. The stronger profit trend supports the investment case as long as operational expansion keeps feeding through to higher earnings — and as long as additional connections generate money that actually lands in the bank.

Network Test Crown and AI Partnerships Round Out the Quarter
Deutsche Telekom announced yesterday another victory in the Computer BILD mobile network test, awarding the network an overall grade of "very good (1.2)." According to the company, it led rival operators on speed and coverage in the 5G network and also highlighted latency performance.
On the partnership front, subsidiary T-Systems signed a letter of intent on Tuesday with Dresden-based AI infrastructure firm Sparxity to expand energy-efficient AI computing infrastructure and bolster European sovereign AI capacity. The plan calls for integrating energy-efficient AI computing technology into Telekom data centers, with the next chip generation slated for deployment in 2028. That follows an agreement reached on 28 October between Banco Sabadell and T-Systems to expand the use of agent-based AI within the banking group.
