Deutsche Telekom spent the past week rolling out new products and services across three fronts — industrial automation, consumer entertainment and travel connectivity — while its share price absorbed a downgrade from Bernstein. The stock closed Friday at EUR 27.09, up 0.5%, as the market largely shrugged off the analyst move.

The most technically ambitious of the company's recent moves came at Audi's Ingolstadt facility, where Deutsche Telekom demonstrated automated vehicles entering and exiting rail wagons as part of logistics operations. The application is designed to speed up loading procedures in rail freight and make them more efficient.

On the connectivity side, Deutsche Telekom IoT added Iridium's global LEO satellite network to its multi-orbit roaming portfolio on September 17. By layering satellite coverage on top of terrestrial mobile networks, the unit aims to deliver uninterrupted data transmission for connected devices anywhere in the world.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Deutsche Telekom?

Streaming, Travel SIMs and a New Product Carbon Tool

Consumer-facing offerings expanded in parallel. Deutsche Telekom integrated Warner Bros. Discovery's HBO Max streaming service into its MagentaTV platform, giving subscribers a choice of six add-on options. A separate launch on September 21 introduced T-Travel, a platform for travel eSIMs that covers more than 200 destinations worldwide and works independently of a traveler's existing mobile carrier. The company also unveiled its Product Emissions Calculator on September 15, a tool for measuring the CO? footprint of individual products.

Those digital services will be paired with a revamped physical footprint. According to media reports, the Bonn-based group plans new store formats, including pop-up locations, with 50 new outlets slated to open nationwide in 2027. The in-person advisory push is intended to help defend existing fixed-line and mobile contracts at home while capturing new market share.

Bernstein Steps Back From Its Bullish Call

The operational momentum did not shield the stock from a more cautious view on Friday, when Bernstein downgraded Deutsche Telekom from "Outperform" to "Market-Perform" and cut its price target to EUR 28.10 from EUR 37.00. The brokerage pointed to uncertainty over a possible merger with T-Mobile US, rising competition in the German fixed-line market, and its own US team's neutral stance on T-Mobile US.

Management, meanwhile, continues to lean on buybacks to underpin the share price. Between September 14 and September 18, the company repurchased 2,945,800 of its own shares. Since the current tranche began on August 10, the cumulative total has reached 14,005,765 shares.
