Goldman Sachs Builds 4.01% Lenzing Position as Insiders Cluster Around EUR 8.65
Published on 10/27/2026 at 12:50 | Editorial boerse-global.deGoldman Sachs has disclosed a stake in Lenzing that carries it past the 4% voting rights threshold, with the holding standing at 4.01% as of 20 October. The US investment bank's position splits into 2.59% of voting rights attached to shares and 1.43% held through instruments, meaning the notification captures both directly held stock and a derivative-based exposure. The disclosure surfaced on Friday.
That same day, Lenzing's stock traded 3.4% lower.
The Goldman filing lands barely a week after the Austrian fibre maker wrapped up a capital increase that raised EUR 301.2 million in gross proceeds. Lenzing issued 34,756,362 new shares at EUR 8.65 apiece, and existing shareholders took up 99% of the offer. Management intends to deploy the money toward strengthening the balance sheet and funding its "Grow Nonwovens, Reset Textiles" strategy. The Vienna Stock Exchange on Friday reported an extension of the listing to cover the newly issued shares.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Lenzing?
Insiders moved at the same price. Supervisory board member Christian Skilich bought 1,710 shares at EUR 8.65 each on Friday, a transaction reported as a management board member's own dealing. B&C KB Holding GmbH, which is closely tied to Lenzing supervisory board member Patrick Lackenbucher, picked up shares roughly a week ago by exercising subscription rights. Oberbank also acquired stock off-market through the exercise of rights; it is closely associated with supervisory board member Martin Seiter.
Heiligenkreuz Timeline Pushed Back
Away from the share register, Lenzing has bought itself time at its Heiligenkreuz site. A company spokesman confirmed on Thursday that the plant's closure has been moved from the end of 2026 to the first quarter of 2027, affecting around 285 employees. The delay is meant to allow the transfer of production to other sites to proceed without disrupting customer deliveries.
Media reports indicate the company is also in talks with roughly 30 interested parties about a possible takeover of the site, with clarity expected by the end of the year. The discussions therefore cover both the deferred shutdown and a potential sale.
Lenzing has pencilled in 5 November for its next look at trading, when it plans to publish third-quarter 2026 results. The financial calendar sets a window of 15:00 to 16:00 CET for the release.
