Goldman Sachs Crosses 4% Threshold in Lenzing as Insiders Buy Into Completed Rights Issue
Published on 10/27/2026 at 09:51 | Editorial boerse-global.deGoldman Sachs has disclosed a stake in Lenzing that nudges past the 4% voting-rights threshold, according to a filing made public on Friday. The US bank held 4.01% of the Austrian fibre maker's voting rights as of 20 October, split between 2.59% from shares and 1.43% from instruments — a position spanning both directly held stock and exposure built through derivatives.
The disclosure lands just over a week after Lenzing wrapped up a capital increase that raised roughly EUR 301.2 million in gross proceeds. The company issued 34,756,362 new shares at a subscription price of EUR 8.65 apiece. Shareholders exercised rights for 34,411,626 of those shares, equal to 99% of the subscription offer. Lenzing intends to channel the proceeds into its "Grow Nonwovens, Reset Textiles" strategy and to shore up its capital structure. On Friday, the Vienna Stock Exchange extended the listing by the full 34,756,362 newly issued shares.
Insiders Among the Subscribers
The B&C KB Holding GmbH, a vehicle close to Lenzing's supervisory board, exercised subscription rights on Thursday to acquire 8,689,086 shares at EUR 8.65 each, with the mandatory notification following on Friday. Oberbank also took up shares through the exercise of subscription rights in an off-market transaction; the bank has close ties to supervisory board member Martin Seiter. Both the B&C purchase and Oberbank's subscription were struck at the same EUR 8.65 per-share price.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Lenzing?
A separate directors' dealings notice published Friday recorded a purchase by management board member Christian Skilich, likewise at EUR 8.65 per share.
Heiligenkreuz Gets a Longer Runway
Away from the capital markets, Lenzing has pushed back the planned shutdown of production at its Heiligenkreuz site. Under the revised timetable, reported by media on Thursday, output will cease at the end of the first quarter of 2027 rather than at the close of 2026. A company spokesperson said existing inventories are to be processed before the stop, while production is shifted to other sites during the intervening period. In comments to the "Krone," the company said the extension is meant to ensure a smooth transfer of production and adequate stock levels.
