Goldman Sachs has disclosed a holding that crosses the 4% voting rights threshold in Lenzing AG, with the position reaching 4.01% on 20 October. The breakdown shows 2.59% held through shares and 1.43% through instruments, meaning the US investment bank's exposure spans both directly held stock and derivative positions.

The disclosure landed on the same Friday that Lenzing's insider and related-party buying activity came into full view, all of it tied to the completed capital increase. The Austrian fibre maker issued 34,756,362 new shares at EUR 8.65 apiece, generating gross proceeds of roughly EUR 301.2 million. Existing shareholders took up 99% of the offer. Lenzing intends to channel the money into its "Grow Nonwovens, Reset Textiles" strategy and to shore up its capital structure.

Oberbank and B&C KB Among the Buyers

Oberbank exercised subscription rights to acquire 1,344,177 Lenzing shares at EUR 8.65 each, according to a mandatory disclosure. The bank is closely associated with supervisory board member Martin Seiter. B&C KB Holding GmbH, identified in filings as a related party of a Lenzing supervisory board member, had already picked up 8,689,086 shares on Thursday by exercising its rights, with that transaction executed off-exchange.

Management also participated. Christian Skilich, a member of Lenzing's executive board, bought 1,710 shares on Friday at the same EUR 8.65 subscription price. The Vienna Stock Exchange, meanwhile, confirmed an extension of the listing to cover the newly issued shares.

Heiligenkreuz Shutdown Pushed to First Quarter 2027

Separately, Lenzing has revised the timetable for its Heiligenkreuz site. The company told the "Krone" on Thursday that production there will now be halted at the end of the first quarter of 2027, rather than at the end of 2026 as previously planned. A company spokesman said output will be transferred to other sites in the interim, and the extension is meant to ensure a smooth production handover and adequate stockpiles. The plant employs around 285 people.

Lenzing is also in contact with roughly 30 interested parties about a possible takeover of the site, according to media reports. The next confirmed reporting date is 5 November 2026, when the company will publish its third-quarter 2026 results.
