Heidelberg Materials Balances Buy Calls, Insider Buying and a Nordic Aggregates Bet Against Its Margin Test
Published on 11/06/2026 at 17:02 | Editorial boerse-global.deHeidelberg Materials closed the third quarter of 2026 with revenue of €6,413 million, a 10% advance on the prior-year period. Operating result (RCO) climbed 9% to €1,281 million — a solid gain, but one that trailed the top line, leaving the company's conversion of extra sales into profit as the number investors are watching most closely.
Management chose not to raise its full-year guidance despite the growth. The RCO corridor for 2026 stands at €3.40 billion to €3.65 billion, with return on invested capital targeted at slightly above 10%. That unchanged outlook, paired with an expanded cost-savings push, was cited in market coverage as the trigger behind the share price reaction.
Analysts Stay Bullish, With Targets Well Above the Market
The quarterly report drew a wave of reaffirmed positive ratings. Deutsche Bank kept its "Buy" call following the earnings call, with a price target of €206, according to media reports. Jefferies restated its buy recommendation and a €286 target the same day, while RBC confirmed a buy rating and a €211 target. With the stock trading at €175.50, all three sit above the current quote.
A purchase by a member of the management board added a further signal. Hakan Gurdal bought 245 shares for a total of €43,205.75, a transaction dated to the previous trading day.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Heidelberg Materials?
A Nordic Deal and a Cautious Construction Recovery
Beyond the quarterly figures, Heidelberg Materials has agreed to acquire NCC AB's Swedish and Norwegian aggregates and asphalt operations. The agreement was signed on 7 October. NCC's industry division runs 106 aggregates sites and 44 hot-mix asphalt plants across the two countries. Whether the purchase pays off for shareholders will hinge on completion and on the earnings contribution the acquired assets deliver once integrated.
On the demand side, CEO Dominik von Achten told Reuters on 23 October that the construction business was showing the first tentative signs of recovery. The project pipeline is picking up in connection with Germany's infrastructure package, and the company has been in talks with major hyperscalers about CO?-reduced building materials for data centres.
Capital Returns and the Margin Question
Shareholder returns have run alongside the expansion. Heidelberg Materials completed the third and final tranche of its buyback programme on 1 October, worth roughly €448 million; the programme as a whole totalled €1.2 billion.
Heidelberg Materials at a turning point? This analysis reveals what investors need to know now.
The central test for the investment case remains whether profit growth keeps pace with revenue. If the gap between the two continues to widen, a more cautious reading of the growth story would be warranted, and the quality of the business would matter more than its size. Should the company hold its confirmed earnings corridor and steady its conversion rate, the optimistic analyst stance rests on firmer operational ground.
The next hard checkpoint arrives on 25 February 2027, when Heidelberg Materials publishes its full-year 2026 results. Investors will then be able to measure how the confirmed outlook was delivered — and whether growth and capital returns are being pulled convincingly in the same direction.
