Hochtief is weighing a push into Europe's artificial-intelligence buildout while its subsidiaries keep stacking up long-term contracts across mining, power transmission and research infrastructure. According to a Handelsblatt report dated 20 October, the Essen-based contractor is preparing an application for an EU-funded AI gigafactory and is in talks with potential partners, Vodafone among them. Neither Hochtief nor Vodafone would comment on the report, and the newspaper said both the location and the partner lineup remain undecided — the Vodafone discussions are part of preparing a possible bid rather than a settled alliance.

Thiess Adds Two Five-Year Mandates in Mongolia

On the operational front, Hochtief's Thiess unit picked up two contracts on Thursday, each running five years, at separate mining sites in Mongolia. One covers underground mining work at the Oyu Tolgoi mine operated by Rio Tinto, where more than 110 new jobs are to be created. The second is an asset-management mandate for Energy Resources at the Ukhaa Khudag mine.

UGL's Western Australia Power Work

In the energy segment, Hochtief subsidiary CIMIC booked three work packages for its UGL business under Western Power's Clean Energy Link–East project. UGL expects revenue of AUD 478 million from the assignment, which includes new transmission lines in Western Australia.

Berlin Museum Contract

Closer to home, Hochtief won an order to build a new collection and research centre for Berlin's Museum für Naturkunde, a project expected to generate roughly EUR 70 million in revenue. Construction is due to start in November 2026, with handover scheduled for summer 2029.

Shares Extend Rebound After Topping the DAX

The stock added 1.6% on the day, building on the recovery reported a day earlier. That prior session had seen Hochtief finish at EUR 370.20, a gain of 3.9% that placed it among the DAX's top performers. Media reports attributed the rebound to a friendlier backdrop for previously battered AI-related shares, with bargain hunting and calm in the bond market cited as supports. The earlier surge was also explained by a chart support zone that held.

Investors now look to third-quarter 2026 figures, scheduled for 5 November 2026.
