Infineon has packed the past week with agreements spanning AI data-centre power supply and a major manufacturing commitment, giving investors plenty to digest ahead of quarterly results due on 10 November.

The German chipmaker and SOLUM signed a memorandum of understanding on Thursday to broaden their cooperation on high-voltage direct-current solutions for AI data centres. The planned scope covers intermediate bus converters, battery backup units and power supplies — reaching across several links in the power chain rather than a single component.

Vertiv added a separate strand earlier in the week, disclosing a three-year strategic agreement under which Infineon will supply silicon and silicon-carbide power semiconductors. Those parts are destined, among other things, for Vertiv's 800-VDC power systems serving AI infrastructure.

On the product front, Infineon pointed this week to the market launch of its OptiMOS-7 portfolio. The power MOSFETs are available and in series production, according to the company, with AI servers, data centres and telecoms infrastructure named as target applications.

Villach Fab Targets 300-mm Wafers

Manufacturing has also drawn fresh capital. On 27 October Infineon unveiled plans to build a GaN power semiconductor plant in Villach, backed by roughly EUR 1.1 billion of investment through 2034. Production is to run on 300-mm wafers, with output scheduled to begin by the end of 2027. The European Commission approved EUR 319 million in Austrian state aid for the project, support intended to enable the expansion of the Infineon site and the planned high-volume manufacturing.

The announcements landed against a choppy market backdrop. Worries about the pace of AI data-centre build-out weighed on Infineon on Thursday, with dpa-AFX reporting that investors feared stricter rules following the US Democrats' election victory could delay projects. The stock lost more than ten percent that session, after turbulence in US technology shares had preceded the sell-off. Bernstein described the market reaction as excessive in its report the following day, and by Friday's close the shares had recovered 1.8% to EUR 45.85.

Analyst opinion has stayed constructive through the swings. JPMorgan reaffirmed its "Overweight" rating and EUR 96 price target on Wednesday, with analyst Sandeep Deshpande flagging the possibility that Infineon's targets for 2027 could come in slightly above consensus. A further buy recommendation on Monday pointed to investment by large cloud and data-centre operators alongside positive sector signals, and also carried a EUR 96 target.

Results and electronica Share a Date

Infineon has scheduled publication of its fourth-quarter and fiscal 2026 results for 10 November — the same day the electronica trade fair opens, running through 13 November. Reuters also lists the company among those reporting next week. After the recent run of announcements, the figures will give investors their next read on how the business is actually performing.
