Infineon is spreading its bets across the artificial-intelligence economy — funding young robotics firms, embedding AI tools in its own software stack, and locking down wafer supply — all while the market counts down to a fourth-quarter report that will test whether the strategy is paying off.

The Munich chipmaker said its new accelerator programme targets start-ups working in Physical AI, robotics and industrial AI, with selected participants receiving Azure credits worth USD 350,000 among other benefits. Running from January to April 2027, the initiative will take in 10 to 15 chosen companies, which will also gain access to technology from both Infineon and NVIDIA.

Software and robotics push

On the tools side, Infineon added an AI assistant to its ModusToolbox software ecosystem on 20 October, integrated with Microsoft Visual Studio Code. The feature supplies AI coding agents with hardware-related context for PSOC Edge and PSOC Control microcontrollers. A day earlier, the company named AdapTronics the winner of its Startup Challenge 2026, a contest focused on humanoid robotics technology.

Those moves sit alongside a deeper hardware alliance with NVIDIA announced on 21 October. The two companies are working on gallium nitride power converters for 800-volt direct-current architectures, a design intended to serve the enormous power demands of modern AI data centres. Running servers at higher voltages cuts losses inside racks and allows more compact power-supply modules — a pressing concern as hyperscalers expand computing capacity and run up against the physical limits of power delivery and heat removal.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Infineon?

Infineon rounded out the portfolio in early October by completing its acquisition of C2i Semiconductors, adding specialised components to its offering.

Supply security and a trimmed target

Manufacturing depth got a boost on 15 October, when Infineon announced a multi-year supply agreement with Wolfspeed for 200-mm silicon carbide wafers. Infineon said the deal underpins its 200-mm production and strengthens supply-chain resilience.

Analyst sentiment is mixed at the margin. Christopher Rolland of Susquehanna cut his price target on the stock to EUR 85 from EUR 100 on Wednesday, according to media reports, while keeping his positive rating. Shares edged up 0.4% in pre-market trading.

The broader analyst community remains more bullish: the average price target sits at roughly EUR 88.80, and earnings estimates have been raised seven times over the past 90 days against just two cuts.

Shares recover but stay well below highs

Tuesday's session brought a 4.0% gain to EUR 50.47, lifted by sector momentum and the string of strategic announcements. Even so, the stock trades 44% below its 52-week high of EUR 89.67, set on 3 June 2026.

Attention now turns to 10 November 2026, when Infineon reports fourth-quarter and preliminary full-year figures for the fiscal year ended in September. Consensus points to quarterly revenue of about EUR 4.71 billion, up from EUR 3.94 billion a year earlier, with earnings per share expected to climb to just under EUR 0.63 from EUR 0.180. For the full year, the market expects revenue of around EUR 16.35 billion. Beyond margins, investors will be watching guidance for industrial and automotive demand and the pace of the data-centre ramp-up.
