Infineon Technologies cut the ribbon on a new office and laboratory building at its Warstein site today, giving roughly 350 employees a workspace that includes about 1,200 square metres of lab space. The investment by GARBE Institutional Capital and BC Partners Real Estate came in at a mid-double-digit million-euro figure.

The opening lands in the middle of a busy stretch for the chipmaker, which has spent the past few weeks rolling out product launches, partnership announcements and manufacturing commitments across its power semiconductor portfolio. Investors took note: Infineon shares were up 2.3% on Monday.

GaN Switches Headed for AI Data Centers

That Monday gain followed news that Infineon and Enphase Energy have unveiled 900-volt GaN bidirectional switches destined for solid-state transformers in AI data centres. According to Infineon, the components have already been tested and are being integrated into development builds. The collaboration feeds directly into the power supply chain for AI computing and dovetails with Infineon's broader GaN-based conversion work.

Just over a week earlier, the company had announced an expanded tie-up with NVIDIA centred on GaN-based power conversion systems for 800-volt DC architectures in AI data centres. The partners are focusing on a high-voltage intermediate bus converter, Infineon said.

Villach Fab and a Wolfspeed Supply Pact

Manufacturing capacity is expanding to match. Infineon plans to invest around EUR 1.1 billion in its Villach site through 2034, building what it describes as Europe's first high-volume production line for GaN power semiconductors on 300-millimetre wafers. Output is slated to begin at the end of 2027, with EUR 319 million in funding lined up under the European Chips Act.

On the silicon carbide side, Infineon and Wolfspeed agreed on 15 October to multi-year wafer deliveries. The arrangement supports Infineon's shift from 150-millimetre to 200-millimetre SiC production and is intended to make the supply chain more resilient, according to the company.

New MOSFETs and Reference Designs

Product news has kept pace with the partnership flow. Yesterday Infineon presented LinearFET, a MOSFET technology aimed at solid-state power distribution in electric and software-defined vehicles. The same day brought word of new products and reference designs, including a 5.6-kilowatt M-CRPS reference design for enterprise AI servers and a high-voltage BMS reference design.

The NVIDIA collaboration, announced on 21 October, covers 800-volt DC architectures and GaN-based power conversion systems.

Start-up Pipeline and Trade Show Plans

Infineon is also courting the next generation of hardware developers. On Thursday, UnternehmerTUM Accelerator, Microsoft, Infineon and NVIDIA launched the Physical AI Growth Lab, an equity-free accelerator aimed at European start-ups working in physical AI, robotics and industrial AI.

Infineon at a turning point? This analysis reveals what investors need to know now.

In humanoid robotics, Infineon named the winners of its Startup Challenge 2026 on 19 October. AdapTronics took first place, followed by COSMOKE and TECHiFAB.

The company has announced its presence at electronica 2026, with technologies for AI, robotics, mobility and intelligent edge devices on the agenda. The trade fair runs from 10 to 13 November. Next on the corporate calendar is 10 November 2026, when Infineon reports fourth-quarter and full-year figures for fiscal 2026.
