Infineon's AI Power Ambitions Get a Second Vote of Confidence From Enphase
Published on 10/26/2026 at 15:11 | Editorial boerse-global.deInfineon Technologies has picked up fresh momentum in the race to power artificial intelligence data centres, after Enphase Energy said it will use the German chipmaker's components in solid-state transformers. The endorsement, announced today, helped lift Infineon shares by 2.6% as investors warmed to the growing commercial promise of the company's AI-related business.
Gallium Nitride at the Core
At the heart of the Enphase tie-up are Infineon's 900-V gallium nitride (GaN) bidirectional switches, which are already being built into development setups. The collaboration focuses squarely on data-centre power supply — the same terrain Infineon staked out on Wednesday, when it unveiled a deeper partnership with NVIDIA covering GaN-based power conversion systems for 800-VDC AI data centres.
The two deals point in one direction: Infineon is positioning its power semiconductors as the plumbing behind AI's voracious electricity demand. Enphase's announcement adds a concrete customer commitment to the switches themselves, rather than a broader research framework.
Supply Chain Bolstered With Wolfspeed
Manufacturing muscle is being reinforced in parallel. On 15 October, Infineon signed a multi-year supply agreement with Wolfspeed covering 200-mm silicon carbide wafers — material intended to support Infineon's 200-mm production and, according to the company, to make its supply chain more resilient.

Analyst Trims Target but Keeps Faith
Not every signal was bullish. Susquehanna analyst Christopher Rolland cut his price target on Infineon from EUR 100 to EUR 85 on Wednesday, according to media reports, while reaffirming his "Positive" rating on the stock. The shares were up 0.4% in pre-market trading.
A Broader Push Into Physical AI
Beyond power electronics, Infineon is cultivating an ecosystem around robotics and industrial AI. Together with the UnternehmerTUM Accelerator and Microsoft, it launched the "Physical AI Growth Lab," aimed at European start-ups working in physical AI, robotics and industrial AI. Between 10 and 15 selected companies will take part from January to April 2027, gaining access to NVIDIA and Infineon technologies as well as Azure credits worth USD 350,000 — all without surrendering any equity.
The company's own software stack is getting an AI upgrade too. On 20 October, Infineon added an AI assistant for Microsoft Visual Studio Code to its ModusToolbox ecosystem, giving AI coding agents hardware-specific context for PSOC Edge and PSOC Control microcontrollers. A day earlier, it named AdapTronics the winner of its Startup Challenge 2026, a competition devoted to humanoid robotics technology.
