Infineon used October 27 to roll out a trio of announcements spanning automotive and data-centre power, headlined by ENDOPACK, a platform for chip-embedding solutions. The company says the ENDOPACK Cell variant is ready for volume production, while vehicles built around the technology are earmarked for series production in 2027 — a distinction that separates the maturity of the platform itself from the timeline for cars carrying it.

Alongside the embedding platform, the German chipmaker unveiled new OptiMOS-7 automotive MOSFETs in a TOLL package. For AI data centres, it presented a high-voltage power distribution board serving as a reference design for power supply architectures. The board supports ±400 V and 800 V, according to the company, and is scheduled to be available from November 2026. That design lets customers evaluate GaN-based high-voltage intermediate bus converters for 800-volt systems in AI data centres.

Brussels Signs Off on Villach

The product news lands against a broader industrial push. Roughly a week before the announcements, Infineon committed around EUR 1.1 billion to its Villach site through 2034, where it intends to establish what it describes as the world's first high-volume production of GaN power semiconductors on 300-millimetre wafers. Output is slated to begin by the end of 2027. The European Commission approved EUR 319 million in state aid for the project.

Supply agreements are taking shape in parallel. Also about a week ago, word emerged of a planned delivery arrangement with Enphase Energy: Infineon is to supply bidirectional monolithic 900 V GaN switches for power modules used in solid-state transformers.

Intel's Soft Guidance Ripples Through Europe

Market sentiment has been less cooperative. A weak outlook from Intel and worries about how AI infrastructure will be financed weighed on European chip names on Friday, Infineon among them, according to Reuters. The stock shed 4.5%. Intel guided for fourth-quarter 2026 revenue of USD 15 billion to USD 16 billion, below analyst expectations, and media reports pointed to investor concern over free cash flow pressure from hefty data-centre spending at Amazon and Alphabet.

Closer to home, Infineon opened a new office and laboratory building for research and development at its Warstein site on Wednesday. On October 22, UnternehmerTUM Accelerator, Microsoft, Infineon and NVIDIA jointly launched the Physical AI Growth Lab, a programme aimed at European start-ups working in physical AI, robotics and industrial AI. It runs from January to April 2027.

Positioning data also shifted. About two weeks ago, Goldman Sachs reported its aggregate position in Infineon had risen to 5.70%, split between 1.25% of voting rights from shares and 4.45% held through instruments.

Infineon at a turning point? This analysis reveals what investors need to know now.

Investors now look to November 10, when Infineon publishes results for the fourth quarter and the 2026 fiscal year. The company flags the date as provisional in its financial calendar.
