Infineon shares fell over 10% on political fears, then rebounded 1.8% to €45.85 as JPMorgan and Bernstein stood by €96 targets amid new AI deals.

A 10% single-day slide, a partial rebound, and a pair of bullish 96-euro price targets — that is the market side of Infineon's week. The corporate side looks rather different: new power semiconductors, fresh AI data-centre partnerships, and a billion-euro manufacturing expansion in Austria.

The trigger for the selloff was political. According to dpa-AFX, investors feared that stricter rules following the US Democrats' election victory could delay data-centre projects, and the stock lost more than 10% on Thursday. Turbulence in US tech shares had preceded the slump. By Friday's close the shares had recovered somewhat, gaining 1.8% to €45.85, and Bernstein described the market's reaction as overdone.

Analysts Hold the Line at 96 Euros

JPMorgan reaffirmed its "Overweight" rating and a €96 price target on Wednesday. Analyst Sandeep Deshpande suggested Infineon's targets for 2027 could come in slightly above consensus. A further buy recommendation on Monday pointed to capital spending by major cloud and data-centre operators as well as positive sector signals, and it too confirmed a €96 target.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Infineon?

OptiMOS-7 and Two Data-Centre Alliances

On the product front, Infineon unveiled new OptiMOS-7 MOSFETs on Tuesday, aimed at AI servers, data centres and telecommunications infrastructure. The 40-volt components are already available in series production and are designed for higher efficiency and greater power density.

Partnerships are being lined up to match. Infineon and SOLUM signed a letter of intent this week to widen their cooperation on high-voltage direct-current solutions, with intermediate circuit converters, battery backup units and power supplies to be added going forward. A three-year strategic collaboration with Vertiv was agreed in the same week; under the deal Infineon will supply silicon and silicon-carbide power semiconductors, including 800-volt DC power supply systems.

Villach: €1.1 Billion and €319 Million in State Aid

At the Villach site, Infineon announced on 27 October investments of around €1.1 billion through 2034, earmarked for modernising the plant and expanding GaN power semiconductor production. High-volume manufacturing on 300-millimeter wafers is planned there. The European Commission approved €319 million in Austrian state aid to support the expansion and the planned high-volume output, with the funding falling under the European Chips Act.

Investors get their next hard data point on 10 November, when Infineon publishes results for the fourth quarter and the 2026 financial year. The electronica trade fair in Munich opens the same day and runs until 13 November.
