The operational picture tells a far more compelling story. Second-quarter revenue hit $80.1 million, a 287 percent jump year-over-year, and comfortably cleared the company's own guidance of $65 million to $68 million. Management responded by raising full-year 2026 revenue guidance to a range of $280 million to $290 million, up from the previous $260 million to $270 million. The strategic centerpiece arrived on July 31, when IonQ closed its $1.8 billion acquisition of semiconductor manufacturer SkyWater Technology, following final regulatory clearance on July 28. The deal transforms IonQ from a pure chip designer into a vertically integrated operation spanning foundry to cloud. Just yesterday, the company confirmed receipt of its first fully integrated, semiconductor-based quantum processors from the new SkyWater production line — a key milestone on the road to deploying 256-qubit systems in the first half of 2027.
Washington's Growing Appetite
While much of the quantum sector still leans on speculative research contracts, IonQ is quietly building a more dependable revenue base within the US security apparatus. On August 6, the company announced two new government awards.
Under a contract extension worth $28 million, IonQ will deliver 125 optical atomic clocks for DARPA's "It's About Time" program, with the company investing $15 million in production capacity. The devices are designed to be 75 times smaller than conventional hydrogen masers. A day earlier, it launched the Tennessee Quantum Communications Research Center in Chattanooga with utility provider EPB, focused on developing municipal quantum networks. Wall Street's Verdict
The analyst community appears undeterred by the balance sheet noise. Wedbush initiated coverage on August 3 with an "Outperform" rating and a $75 price target, explicitly citing vertical integration through SkyWater as a structural differentiator. Benchmark reaffirmed its "Buy" rating on July 27. The average price target currently sits at €58.03, implying roughly 60 percent upside from current levels.
Still, the stock remains a white-knuckle ride. Annualized 30-day volatility stands at 82.46 percent — territory more commonly associated with cryptocurrencies than hardware manufacturers. The shares are trading more than half below their October 2025 record high of €73.10, a gap of roughly 51 percent.
