IREN shares climbed 5.0% on Tuesday as investors returned to artificial-intelligence infrastructure names following an extended stretch of losses, with media reports pointing to industry counterarguments against fears that unfinished data centres could end up as economically stranded assets.

The pushback against that downbeat view lifted sentiment across the AI infrastructure complex, and IREN rode the wave. Reports also cited bargain hunters moving in after the prolonged decline, viewing the pullback as an attractive entry point.

Customer Deposits Shoulder the GPU Bill

The rebound comes against a financing backdrop that co-CEO Daniel Roberts laid out on 20 October. Customer prepayments covered between 45% and 55% of GPU costs on recently signed contracts, Roberts said, with those agreements running for three years.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying IREN?

Roberts also stated that IREN paid for the construction of its data centres in cash, and that no debt sits on those sites. He was careful to scope the debt-free claim to those locations rather than to the company as a whole. The remarks cover two distinct legs of the funding equation: building the facilities and procuring the graphics processors, with customer advances covering a portion of the latter.

Spain Campus Anchors European Push

IREN's growth plans extend to a planned AI data-centre campus in Badajoz, Spain, announced roughly a week ago alongside the formation of IREN Europe and the receipt of a permit for earthworks. The site is designed for approximately 300 megawatts of capacity, with first operations targeted for 2028.

The company has secured grid-connected power for the project, according to its own statements. As part of the European build-out, IREN named Roberto Purcaro as Executive Director for Europe and appointed Ángel Corcóstegui, former chairman of Banco Santander, to lead the European supervisory board.

What Comes Next

Investors will get a fuller picture on 5 November 2026, when IREN is scheduled to report results for the first quarter of fiscal 2027 — a period that ended on 30 September 2026. A conference call is set for 5 p.m. Eastern Time.
