Kioxia Analysts Trim 2027 Profit Targets Even as Growth Forecast Survives
Published on 11/03/2026 at 10:11 | Editorial boerse-global.deKioxia's latest half-year report card has prompted analysts to mark down their earnings expectations for the memory maker, with the statutory per-share result missing forecasts by 30%. The revision, however, points to a smaller expansion rather than an outright contraction: consensus still anticipates robust growth, just from a lower base.
For fiscal 2027, the analyst consensus now projects earnings per share of „3,350, down from „3,486 before the results were published. The revenue line has barely moved â the new consensus stands at „9.97 trillion versus „10 trillion previously. That gap between a near-flat top-line outlook and a deeper cut to the bottom line is the crux for investors: it is not enough to track expected business growth, because what matters is how much of it analysts believe will actually reach the profit line.
The average analyst price target was trimmed 6.2% to „34,648, a sign that the softer earnings picture is feeding through into valuations.
Delivery Timing and Product Mix Weigh on the Outlook
Part of the caution stems from the timing of shipments. Kioxia said in its latest guidance that some deliveries were pulled forward into the September quarter, while others slipped into the March quarter because of longer production lead times. The company expects growth to resume in the March quarter.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Kioxia?
Delayed shipments of data-center memory products and an anticipated shift toward cheaper smartphone and PC components were also cited as drags. The issue is therefore twofold: when Kioxia ships, and which products carry the revenue.
Those crosscurrents sit alongside a broader market move. Kioxia shares fell 13% in a wider selloff of Japanese technology stocks, with Reuters identifying the stock as the heaviest weight on the Nikkei. Bloomberg linked the selling to the profit outlook published on Friday, which it read as a signal of fading demand momentum â an interpretation of the guidance rather than any reported contraction in the business.
NAND Price Gains Cool From 70% to the Mid-20s
A key piece of the puzzle is the trajectory of NAND selling prices. Bloomberg reported on Friday that average prices rose by a mid-20s percentage in the September quarter, compared with 70% in the preceding quarter. Prices are still climbing, just far more slowly â a distinction between decelerating growth and an actual decline.
Kioxia's own forecast for the quarter through December 2026 calls for revenue of „2,500.0 billion and operating profit of „1,995.0 billion, both essentially flat on the prior quarter. Management attributed the largely unchanged outlook in part to currency effects and the timing of shipments, so the guidance cannot be read purely as a verdict on demand. Still, it offers investors no evidence of a near-term acceleration.
That is not a story of vanishing profits. In the six months through September 2026, Kioxia booked revenue of „4,247.2 billion and operating profit of „3,264.7 billion. The debate is about where earnings go from here, not whether they exist.
Kioxia at a turning point? This analysis reveals what investors need to know now.
A „90 Interim Payout and a Progressive Dividend Pledge
Set against the softer growth momentum, Kioxia's board approved an interim dividend on Friday and committed to progressive payouts while maintaining a net-cash position. The interim distribution of „90.00 per share is payable on December 8, 2026, and the per-share figure explicitly refers to the status before the stock split of October 1.
That gives investors a tension to weigh: shareholder returns and pledged capital discipline on one side, decelerating growth on the other. The dividend answers the question of how existing cash will be used. It says nothing about whether the operating business will pick up speed again â and with revenue estimates almost untouched while profit forecasts come down, that remains the open question analysts are watching.
