Kioxia Rebounds 7.5% as Iwai Cosmo Sees Overdone Slide
Published on 11/07/2026 at 09:31 | Editorial boerse-global.deKioxia shares closed Thursday at €50.00, a gain of 7.5%, as a bullish call from Iwai Cosmo Securities helped the stock recover from a sharp start-of-week selloff. The Tokyo research house raised its price target on the memory chipmaker on Wednesday, according to media reports, arguing the shares had been pushed down excessively. The reports do not establish a direct link between the upgrade and the following session's advance.
The rebound came after Bloomberg reported Monday that Kioxia and other memory names came under pressure following a disappointing business outlook. At one point during Monday's session the stock fell as much as 17%, the news agency said, as investors fretted that growth driven by artificial intelligence might be losing momentum.
Guidance Missed Consensus
At the center of the pullback was Kioxia's forecast, published on October 30, for the quarter running October to December 2026. The company guided to revenue of ¥2.5 trillion and an adjusted non-GAAP operating profit of ¥2.0 trillion. Both figures are projections, not reported results. According to Bloomberg, the operating profit target fell short of analyst expectations, and the agency attributed the subsequent selling pressure across Kioxia and other storage stocks to that cautious guidance.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Kioxia?
The criticism therefore centered on expectations for the coming quarter rather than on results already booked. For July to September 2026, Kioxia reported an operating profit of ¥1.9947 trillion on revenue of ¥2.48 trillion, figures drawn from the company's consolidated release of October 30.
Half-Year Filing Confirms Scale
Kioxia also submitted its half-year report for the fiscal year ending March 2027. For the reporting period the company posted revenue of ¥4,247,152 million and an operating profit of ¥3,264,727 million.
Alongside its results, the chipmaker has moved to sharpen its capital returns. Roughly a week ago it pledged to deploy 100% of excess cash for distributions to shareholders while maintaining a net cash position. No share buyback was announced in that statement. The company also declared an interim dividend of ¥90 per share.
Separately, Kioxia published its integrated report 2026 on Thursday, covering the fiscal year from April 1, 2025 to March 31, 2026.
