Kioxia Holdings drew a fresh bout of buying on Friday, with the stock climbing 7.5% to close at €50.00. The advance came two days after Iwai Cosmo Securities raised its price target on the memory maker, arguing that the shares had been pushed down excessively. The reports do not establish a direct link between Wednesday's analyst move and Friday's rally, though the timing is notable.

The upgrade lands alongside a decidedly more guarded corporate outlook. Kioxia's guidance for the October-to-December 2026 quarter, issued on October 30, projected an operating profit of ¥2 trillion — a figure Bloomberg reported fell short of analyst expectations. The news agency tied the subsequent selling pressure across Kioxia and other memory names to that cautious forecast.

Recorded Results Versus Forward Guidance

It is worth separating what Kioxia has already booked from what it expects. For the July-to-September 2026 quarter, the company reported operating profit of ¥1.9947 trillion on revenue of ¥2.48 trillion, according to its consolidated release dated October 30. Those are reported figures, not projections.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Kioxia?

The forward picture is softer. Kioxia's guidance for the current quarter pencils in revenue of ¥2.5 trillion, with operating profit expected to hold roughly flat versus the prior quarter. Management said currency effects should offset what remains robust demand from data centers.

NAND Price Momentum Cools

The Japan Times reported that the outlook trailed estimates as the pace of NAND price increases decelerated. Average NAND selling prices grew in the mid-twenty-percent range in the September quarter, according to media reports — a marked slowdown from the 70% growth recorded in the preceding quarter. The report linked the tempered guidance to weaker sentiment across memory stocks, SanDisk among them.

Filings and a Tokyo Forum on the Calendar

On the disclosure front, Kioxia submitted its half-year securities report on Friday, covering the period from April 1 to September 30, 2026, for the fiscal year ending March 2027. The filing followed Thursday's publication of the company's "Integrated Report 2026."

Kioxia also announced the KIOXIA Forum 2026, set for November 26 in Tokyo. The agenda features sessions on flash memory for AI applications and SSD technology, with NVIDIA and NTT slated to take part in the presentations.
