Investors are betting big on Lenovo's AI-infrastructure story, and Friday's trading action shows just how much conviction has built up. The Hong Kong-listed shares climbed as much as 10.6% to €3.13 in European trading, marking a new 52-week high and extending the stock's year-to-date gain to 204.33%. The move follows a pre-market advance of 8.66% that had already pushed the shares to a fresh annual peak.
Wall Street Turns More Bullish on AI Server Demand
The rally is being fueled by a wave of upward revisions from major investment banks ahead of the company's first-quarter earnings release, scheduled for Thursday, August 13. Morgan Stanley's analysts now project adjusted net income of roughly $788 million — a 102% jump year-over-year and about 12% above the prevailing market consensus.
The optimism centers on Lenovo's Infrastructure Solutions Group (ISG), the division that builds servers and data-center hardware. While the broader market expects ISG revenue of around $6.13 billion for the quarter, JPMorgan's team is notably more aggressive, forecasting $6.87 billion — growth of 60% from the prior-year period. Other market observers are also penciling in double-digit expansion for the segment, reflecting the sustained appetite for AI-related computing power.
That enthusiasm is supported by industry-wide projections. Analysts tracking the AI-server component market have revised their forecasts sharply higher, with the segment now expected to reach $37.5 billion by 2027. For hardware suppliers like Lenovo that moved early into this space, the trajectory points to a prolonged growth runway.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Lenovo?
Dividend, Buybacks, and a $2 Billion Convertible
Beyond the earnings catalyst, shareholders have been digesting a busy stretch of corporate activity. The stock traded ex-dividend on Wednesday, with holders entitled to a payout of HK$0.337 per share. The distribution was formally approved at the annual general meeting on July 23, covering the fiscal year that ended March 31, 2026.
At that same meeting, shareholders granted management broad mandates to issue new shares, repurchase stock, and expand the employee equity-compensation plan. The buyback authorization ties into a broader refinancing effort unveiled in June, when Lenovo agreed to issue $2 billion of zero-coupon convertible bonds maturing in 2033. The initial conversion price was set at HK$36.70, and proceeds are earmarked for retiring existing convertible debt due in 2029 and funding a market-based share-repurchase program.
New Hardware Hits the Shelves
The financial engineering is running in parallel with fresh product momentum. Lenovo has begun rolling out new devices this month, including the L16 mobile monitor, priced at an estimated €199, and the Yoga Pro 7a notebook, available since August with a starting price of $2,099. The launches underscore the company's push deeper into the premium segment even as investors await the quarterly numbers.

Macro Tailwinds Add to the Momentum
Friday's advance also benefited from a constructive backdrop across Asian markets. Stronger-than-expected Chinese export data lifted sentiment in Hong Kong, with the Hang Seng Index adding 0.5% and the tech-heavy Hang Seng Tech Index climbing 0.8%. The upbeat trade figures bode well for internationally exposed technology firms, and Lenovo's heavy tilt toward servers and infrastructure appears to be setting it apart from peers grappling with uneven demand in more traditional hardware categories.
The shares touched HK$27.36 in Hong Kong trading on elevated volume, underscoring the intensity of investor interest. Whether the company can deliver on the elevated expectations will become clear next Thursday, when the board meets to review and release the unaudited results for the three months ended June 30, 2026 — the first quarter of fiscal 2027.
