Lenzing Keeps Indonesian Exit Alive While Weighing Sale Options for Two European Plants
Published on 11/08/2026 at 04:13 | Editorial boerse-global.deLenzing is pressing ahead with the disposal of its Indonesian fibre production site, the company said on Thursday, pairing that ongoing process with a fresh review of value-optimised sale options for its Heiligenkreuz and Grimsby facilities. Under current planning, both European plants are still slated to cease production.
The Austrian fibre maker has already notified the AMS labour authority on time about the planned job cuts at Heiligenkreuz, where output is due to wind down by the end of the first quarter of 2027. Grimsby is scheduled to follow by the end of 2027.
Roughly 30 potential investors have signalled interest in the Heiligenkreuz site, according to media reports, with a shortlist of bidders expected in mid-November. A decision between a sale and a closure is to be taken by year-end, though no binding agreement had been reported as of Wednesday. Lenzing itself has stayed tight-lipped about the identity of the interested parties.
Impairments and a Nine-Month Loss
The two European sites drove non-cash write-downs on long-term assets of EUR 136.1 million. Lenzing's result after tax for the first nine months of 2026 came in at EUR -130.3 million.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Lenzing?
Revenue for the period reached EUR 1.93 billion. Adjusted EBITDA amounted to EUR 353 million, lifting the adjusted EBITDA margin to 18.3%, according to the company. Unadjusted EBITDA stood at EUR 316.4 million, dragged down by one-off restructuring charges of EUR 36.6 million.
Management is guiding toward full-year 2026 adjusted EBITDA of between EUR 430 million and EUR 460 million — a forecast rather than a result already booked.
Ownership After the Capital Increase
Following the capital raise completed about a month ago, the syndicate of B&C Group and Suzano continues to hold roughly 52.25% of voting rights, Lenzing said. Suzano Holding S.A. additionally acquired about 0.80% directly in Lenzing. Goldman Sachs Group holds 5.86% of Lenzing shares, per the company.
Lenzing at a turning point? This analysis reveals what investors need to know now.
The quarterly report published Thursday thus bundles the operating figures with the continuing Indonesian divestment and the examination of options for the two European sites, with the announced production stops at Heiligenkreuz and Grimsby remaining part of that plan. Lenzing lists the release of its 2026 annual results on 18 March 2027 as its next financial date.
