Lenzing has closed the cheque. The Austrian fibre maker's completed rights issue pulled in roughly EUR 301.2 million in gross proceeds, with 34,756,362 new shares placed at EUR 8.65 apiece — a capital injection that arrives hand in hand with a markedly larger share count.

That dilution is the price of admission, and Reuters flagged it squarely, noting the offer's heavy dilutive effect. A punchy take-up rate and a warm reception on the trading floor, in other words, are two different things and shouldn't be conflated.

The cheque clears, the court still has to sign

Settlement, delivery of the new shares and their admission to trading on the Prime Market of the Vienna Stock Exchange are pencilled in for 23 October, subject to the capital increase being entered in the commercial register. Until that registration lands, the financing is executed but not yet fully in force on the market.

The proceeds are earmarked for Lenzing's "Grow Nonwovens, Reset Textiles" strategy and for shoring up the balance sheet. Those are two distinct jobs wearing one coat: a sturdier capital base addresses the financial foundation, while the strategic piece still has to be converted into tangible commercial progress. Closing a financing is not the same as proving the strategy behind it works.

Almost everyone signed up

Take-up in the subscription offer reached 99%, according to Lenzing, with the consortium banks selling any unsubscribed shares into the market. That final tally supersedes the preliminary figures published on Tuesday — the placement of the leftover stock is no longer merely planned but done.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Lenzing?

Existing major shareholders were among the subscribers. The B&C Group and Suzano S.A. together took 18,159,291 shares, equivalent to roughly 52.25% of the offer, while Oberbank picked up 1,344,177 shares, or about 3.87%.

Reading a vote of confidence in every detail of the strategy into that 99% would be overreach. The figure demonstrates that shareholders showed up for this financing; it says nothing definitive about what they expect from future operating results. Reuters and ORF both pointed to the capital increase, announced in early October, as a concrete drag on the share price.

A denim collection and a network spanning 13 countries

The more telling yardstick sits outside the financing altogether. On 5 October, Lenzing unveiled a collaboration with Japanese denim manufacturer Kaihara, bringing the REMOD collection to market. At the same time, the company reported that its network of TENCEL Lyocell HV100 partner weavers had grown to almost 50 mills across 13 countries.

Those developments deserve neither to be waved away as a footnote nor crowned as a breakthrough. A collection shows what a company is working on; a broader network describes the reach of its collaboration. Both matter for sizing up the realignment, but neither is synonymous with added profit. The strategy's own name already splits the task in two — growth on one side, a reset on the other — and that distinction warrants more attention than the headline of a completed financing.

Two dates, two very different questions

The financial calendar adds 5 November, when Lenzing will publish its third-quarter 2026 results. That release is the next scheduled window into how the business is actually performing, and it carries a different weight from the settlement mechanics.

For investors, the split is clean: 23 October concerns the execution of the fundraising, while 5 November speaks to the operating story. Lenzing now has the money, a new product line and a wider partner network. Turning those into durable earnings is the part the balance sheet alone cannot answer.
