Lenzing's Balance Sheet Gets a €301 Million Boost, but the Share Count Nearly Doubles Along With It
Published on 10/22/2026 at 12:41 | Editorial boerse-global.deLenzing has closed the books on its rights issue, raising roughly EUR 301.2 million in gross proceeds — cash earmarked for the "Grow Nonwovens, Reset Textiles" strategy and for shoring up the balance sheet. The transaction cuts two ways for shareholders: it hands management fresh firepower for the overhaul, while the equity base has swollen to nearly twice its former size. Whether the money translates into business progress is a question the subscription books cannot answer.
A Financing Round That Was Never in Doubt
Take-up on the offer reached 99%, with 34,756,362 new shares issued at EUR 8.65 apiece. The consortium banks placed the leftover shares on the market, meaning the preliminary subscription result published Tuesday has been superseded — no residual placement remains outstanding.
That near-universal acceptance is a strong endorsement of the financing itself, not a verdict on the turnaround. The discount attached to the offer, set at 42.50% to the theoretical ex-rights price when the deal was announced on 1 October, belongs to the same category: a condition of the offer, neither a price target nor a signal about future earnings.
Two Sides of the Same Transaction
Reuters identified the heavily discounted capital increase as the specific trigger behind the sharp share-price move in early October. The successful placement and the dilution pressure felt at the time are simply different faces of one transaction. B&C-Gruppe and Suzano together subscribed for just over half the offering, with Oberbank also participating — backing that helped carry the financing but says nothing about how productively the proceeds will be deployed.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Lenzing?
The arithmetic is stark: after the announced extension of the listing, Lenzing's share count stands at 73,374,542. More capital has arrived, and so has a substantially wider equity base.
Product Momentum Runs Alongside the Fundraising
A concrete example from the commercial side came on 5 October, when Lenzing unveiled the "REMOD" denim collection developed with Kaihara Corporation. The company also reported that its TENCEL Lyocell – HV100 network has grown to nearly 50 weaving mills across 13 countries. Such partnerships offer a useful touchpoint for judging the business, though a new collection and a broader partner roster do not by themselves add up to a quantified earnings contribution.
The Court Filing Standing Between Here and the Trading Floor
Delivery and the start of trading in the new shares are scheduled for 23 October, subject to registration of the capital increase in the commercial register. The Vienna Stock Exchange announced the corresponding expansion of the listing. That date marks the technical inclusion of the new paper — the capital-raising is done, and the administrative steps are following the timetable.
Lenzing at a turning point? This analysis reveals what investors need to know now.
What remains separate is the central economic task. Lenzing must convert its new financial headroom into tangible progress on the strategy it has promised. The broad take-up of the offer provides a foundation for that effort; it does not substitute for the proof.
