Lenzing's Share Count Nearly Doubles as Goldman Sachs Discloses 4.01% Stake
Published on 10/26/2026 at 15:52 | Editorial boerse-global.deLenzing's equity base has swollen to 73,374,542 shares after the Vienna Stock Exchange admitted 34,756,362 new shares to trading on Friday — the final mechanical step following a capital increase that closed just over a week ago. The listing expansion came on the same day Goldman Sachs disclosed a total position of 4.01% of voting rights in the Austrian fibre maker, according to a mandatory notification.
The US investment bank's holding, whose threshold crossing dates back to 20 October, splits into 2.59% in shares and 1.43% in financial instruments. Neither figure represents a change in the company's underlying value; the larger share count is the arithmetic result of the rights issue, not a re-rating of the business.
Issue Price Anchors Insider Buying
The capital raise, which generated gross proceeds of roughly EUR 301.2 million at an issue price of EUR 8.65 per share, drew subscriptions for 99% of the offered stock. The consortium banks placed the remaining shares on the market. Lenzing intends to use the cash to shore up its capital structure and fund its "Grow Nonwovens, Reset Textiles" strategy.

Among those taking up their entitlements was the syndicate of B&C Group and Suzano, which received 18,159,291 new shares in the preliminary allocation results published on 20 October. B&C KB Holding and Oberbank also reported acquiring Lenzing stock through the exercise of subscription rights, with both disclosures covering transactions by persons closely associated with a Lenzing supervisory board member.
Insider activity extended to the management board. Christian Skilich, a member of Lenzing's executive board, picked up 1,710 shares at EUR 8.65 apiece — the same price at which the new shares were issued.
Heiligenkreuz Reprieve Tied to Production Transfer
On the operational side, Lenzing has pushed back the closure of its Heiligenkreuz plant from the end of 2026 to the first quarter of 2027. A company spokesperson attributed the delay to the transfer of production to other sites. The facility employs around 285 people, and Lenzing is in talks with roughly 30 interested parties about a possible takeover of the site.
Investors will get their next look at the company's performance on 5 November, when Lenzing publishes its third-quarter 2026 results. The financial calendar sets aside a window from 15:00 to 16:00 CET for the release.
