Mercedes-Benz Unveils Electric AMG GT SUV as Analysts Cut Targets Ahead of Q3
Published on 10/19/2026 at 14:41 | Editorial boerse-global.deMercedes-Benz chose its own 140th anniversary party in Stuttgart to pull the wraps off the fully electric Mercedes-AMG GT SUV on Saturday, giving roughly 15,000 guests at the "140 Festival" the first public look at a model meant to anchor its push into the high-margin luxury and performance segment.
The reveal came wrapped in a broader operational story. A day earlier, the automaker announced a group-wide, AI-driven product lifecycle management system built with Siemens and Contact Software that is designed to shave about 17 months off vehicle development time, with efficiency gains of up to 50% in individual engineering processes. With cost pressure mounting and innovation cycles compressing, speeding up digital development is being treated in Stuttgart as a core competitive lever.
Two analysts trim price targets within 24 hours
Sentiment on the equity tells a less celebratory story. The shares closed Friday at EUR 40.82, up 2.0% as a broad recovery in the European auto sector lifted the stock, with Mercedes among the DAX names to benefit after Germany and France agreed on a joint auto package, according to a dpa-AFX report. Even so, the stock sits at EUR 40.70 and is down 33% since the start of the year, roughly 4.6% above its 52-week low of EUR 38.90.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Mercedes-Benz?
Caution from the research desks has been building ahead of the reporting season. RBC's Tom Narayan cut his target to EUR 44 from EUR 54 on October 13 while keeping a "Sector Perform" rating, pointing to persistent strain in the Chinese market and risks to the automotive operating margin. A day earlier, Jefferies' Philippe Houchois had lowered his target to EUR 46 from EUR 52, retaining a "Buy" rating on fragile full-year expectations for European automakers and the possibility of further provisions at the Stuttgart group.
Nvidia tie-up extended as investors await hard numbers
Alongside the price action, Mercedes confirmed on Friday that it is extending its strategic partnership with Nvidia, aimed at developing the next generation of driver-assistance and automated driving systems. Mercedes contributes vehicle technology and its MB.OS operating system, while Nvidia supplies components including Hyperion, Halos and the Alpamayo stack.
What the market now wants is evidence. Mercedes-Benz is scheduled to publish its interim report for the third quarter on October 28, and only the actual figures are likely to show whether the recent stabilization in the shares can hold.
