Micron Technology shares rose 2.7% on Friday, closing at €784.10, as investors rotated back into memory-chip names following the previous session's technology-led selloff. The advance had little to do with Micron itself: no company-specific announcement drove the move. Instead, the sector's mood brightened after SK Hynix halted its review of a potential IPO for Solidigm, easing concerns that had been weighing on memory stocks and drawing buyers back to Micron and its peers.

A Week of Headlines Beyond the Ticker

Away from the trading floor, the company's week was dominated by events in Taiwan. A group of workers at Micron's Taoyuan plant walked out for a single day on Thursday, according to AFP, in a dispute over bonuses and profit-sharing. The stoppage came just a day after Micron Memory Taiwan and the union at its Taichung site signed an agreement covering several labor issues, as reported by Reuters. Both sides then withdrew from a scheduled mediation process. The joint statement gave no details on the terms of the settlement.

Bonus Overhaul and Retirement Perks

Reuters reported on Thursday that Micron will roll out quarterly employee bonus payments worldwide starting in fiscal 2027. The payouts will be tied to company performance, with the financial results determining the size of the bonus pool. For Taiwan, Reuters also reported higher employer contributions to retirement plans and additional paid vacation days.

Indium Financing and an Insider Sale

On Tuesday, Micron announced a strategic financing package for Indium Corporation. According to company statements, the funding is intended to support the expansion of critical-mineral refining and high-purity materials production in Rome, New York, and includes a long-term supply agreement. Micron did not disclose the size of the investment.

A mandatory SEC filing also revealed a share sale by Scott DeBoer, the company's head of technology and products. He sold 28,544.572 shares under a trading plan adopted on July 17 under Rule 10b5-1.
