Nebius Stock: A Fuel Cell Fires Up in New Jersey as Wall Street Waits for the Revenue Proof

Nebius shares dropped 4% in a sector-wide tech selloff, not a company setback. Its $3.5B Citi credit and Nov 12 Q3 results are the next key tests.

Nebius shares fell 4.0% on Friday, caught in a sector-wide technology selloff rather than any company-specific setback. Reuters linked the broader retreat to Amazon's continued AI spending and Intel's warning about cash burn, both of which weighed on sentiment across the tech complex. For Nebius, the distinction matters: nothing in the downdraft reflected a fresh operational warning from the company itself.

That does not make the move irrelevant. It sharpens the question hanging over every builder of AI computing capacity — when does financed growth turn into a business that convincingly earns its keep? On that front, Nebius can point to more tangible construction milestones than answers.

Capital Access Is Not the Same as a Return

On October 22, Nebius signed a senior secured credit facility with Citi worth $3.5 billion. The term runs 364 days, with an initial rate of Term SOFR plus 2.75% per annum. Proceeds are earmarked for data center development, GPU procurement and general corporate purposes, giving the company concrete financial headroom rather than a mere statement of intent.

Worth noting is the structure: this is not multi-year financing. No acute funding gap follows from that, but the committed volume alone should not drive a valuation — terms, deployment and eventual cash flow belong in the same conversation. A secured facility answers how investments get funded. It does not answer when those investments start paying off, and that gap sits at the heart of market skepticism toward heavy AI capex.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Nebius?

A Fuel Cell Switches On

On the operational side, media reports indicated that the first Bloom Energy fuel cell block was activated on October 25 at the planned data center site in New Jersey. The location is designed for 300 megawatts. Power production has now begun on-site — a different kind of milestone from a credit agreement, turning an expansion plan into a concrete supply step. Its scope remains limited, however: energizing the first block is not the same as completing the full build-out.

Price transparency forms another operational counterweight. On October 21, Nebius announced publicly visible live spot prices for GPU compute, alongside an expansion of its AI Builder Program in Europe with more than $10 million in additional compute credits on offer. Transparent pricing can help customers find their footing, and the program expansion shifts attention toward actual utilization of the capacity on offer. Neither, though, should be mistaken for proven commercial success. An announced support program is not a revenue figure, and visible prices do not yet reveal what returns the build-out will generate.

Piper Sandler Trims Its Target

Analyst James Fish of Piper Sandler cut his price target to $185 from $237 on October 21, keeping a Neutral rating. The dated call fits the cautious stance: expansion upside alone does not justify an unreservedly positive assessment.

The next hard checkpoint is now fixed. Nebius said on Friday it will report third-quarter 2026 results before the market opens on November 12, followed by a conference call. Investors will then be able to set the numbers against the visible build-out progress. Financing and on-site power demonstrate that Nebius is putting the prerequisites for additional infrastructure in place; how the business itself develops is a separate judgment.

The yardstick, then, is neither a single weak trading day nor the sheer size of a credit line. What counts is the link between expansion and economic results — and the tech sector showed on Friday how sensitively that link is being priced. For Nebius, the November 12 report stands as the next factual anchor beyond the general AI mood.
