Lenzing's ownership map shifted on two fronts this week, with NN Group disclosing a larger holding while the anchor syndicate confirmed its grip on the company remains intact. The insurer now holds 4.27% of the Austrian fibre maker's voting rights, up from 2.54% in its previous notification — a threshold crossing that occurred on Friday and was received by the company yesterday. The disclosed stake consists entirely of shares, with no financial instruments attached, a distinction that matters for investors assessing the true weight of the position.

That gain, however, does little to alter the balance of power. The syndicate of B&C companies and Suzano International Trade continues to command a combined 52.25% of voting rights, according to a separate disclosure also published today. Within that bloc, B&C KB Holding accounts for roughly 24.99%, Suzano International Trade for around 12.60%, and the B&C Privatstiftung for approximately 9.99%. Suzano Holding separately acquired a stake of about 0.80% — a position explicitly excluded from the syndicate's aggregated total and not to be conflated with Suzano International Trade's share.

The ownership filings trace back to the rights issue completed just over a week ago, which raised gross proceeds of roughly EUR 301.2 million. Lenzing issued 34,756,362 new shares at a subscription price of EUR 8.65, with the take-up rate reaching 99% by the company's own account. Management intends to channel the funds toward its "Grow Nonwovens, Reset Textiles" strategy while shoring up the balance sheet — reducing debt, meeting future financial obligations, and financing the transformation.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Lenzing?

Insiders have been active on the same terms. Georg Kasperkovitz reported a purchase made through the rights offering in a mandatory disclosure published today, following Christian Skilich's reported share purchase on Friday.

Away from the capital structure, attention is turning to the timeline for the Heiligenkreuz plant. Lenzing now plans to halt production there only at the end of the first quarter of 2027, according to a report by the Kronen Zeitung on Thursday. The company cited the transfer of production to other sites and the build-up of adequate inventories as reasons for the extended schedule, meaning the shutdown also hinges on how preparations proceed at the remaining locations.

Meanwhile, the share price came under pressure in today's session, with the stock down 4.8% at EUR 9.96. B&C KB Holding also disclosed today that it has pledged Lenzing shares.

Investors will get their next hard look at the company's operating performance when third-quarter 2026 results are released on 5 November 2026.
