Novo Nordisk's Regulatory Calendar Fills Up as Analysts Hold Their Ground
Published on 10/22/2026 at 18:31 | Editorial boerse-global.deNovo Nordisk has picked up a pair of regulatory developments on two continents, though neither amounts to a final approval — a distinction that matters as much to investors as the headlines themselves. In China, the drug regulator NMPA on October 15 granted an expanded indication for NovoGlic, clearing the combined insulin icodec and semaglutide product for adults with type-2 diabetes whose condition is not adequately controlled by oral antidiabetics. It is a broadening of an existing label, not the first authorization of a new active ingredient.
Europe delivered a separate signal a day later. On October 16, the Committee for Medicinal Products for Human Use (CHMP) backed a change to the terms of Kyinsu's existing marketing authorization. That positive opinion is a recommendation, not a decision — the European Commission's verdict was still pending. No revenue or earnings impact can be quantified from the step, which leaves the regulatory procedure itself as the story.
Three Files, Three Different Stages
The two announcements sit alongside a third that is at a different point entirely. For Denecimig, Novo Nordisk said on October 2 that the US Food and Drug Administration's review was still running, held up by remediation work at a manufacturing site. The hemophilia A candidate's application was therefore not yet complete.
Management said the delay would not affect the 2026 financial outlook, and kept its target of a US launch in the first half of 2027. That window remains a corporate ambition rather than a confirmed market entry. Lumping the three files together as "approval progress" would blur meaningful differences: Kyinsu has a positive committee opinion in hand, Denecimig faces an ongoing review tied to plant fixes, and NovoGlic has an actual — if limited — label expansion.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Novo Nordisk?
A Date With the FDA, and a Date With the Numbers
CagriSema gives investors another fixed point to watch. Novo Nordisk expects an FDA decision on its weight-management application in the fourth quarter of 2026, with the compound still in clinical development. That expected ruling is a scheduling anchor, not a pre-announced clearance.
The company will also publish results for the first nine months of 2026 on November 4, putting the business figures on the agenda next to the regulatory docket. Keeping interim steps, pending reviews and anticipated rulings apart is the recurring discipline this pipeline demands — none of them substitutes for a final authorization.
Where the Analysts Actually Stand
Recent target-price moves have not come with a shift in conviction. Oddo BHF on Tuesday lifted its Novo Nordisk price target to DKK 305 from DKK 221 while reaffirming a neutral rating. HSBC went the other way on Monday, cutting its target to DKK 280 from DKK 320 and sticking with a hold. Two houses, two directions on valuation — and no change to either recommendation. A higher target alone does not a buy call make.
Novo Nordisk at a turning point? This analysis reveals what investors need to know now.
Reading the CagriSema Data With Care
The clinical backdrop remains the already-published CagriSema analyses. According to Reuters, Novo Nordisk reported an average weight loss of 25% after 68 weeks among women with overweight or obesity, against 3% on placebo. The figure comes from post-hoc analyses of the phase III REDEFINE 1 trial and assumes patients continued treatment without interruption — a caveat that should travel with the number wherever it is cited. The analysis covered 2,309 women.
Taken together, the picture is one of parallel but unequal advances: an expanded Chinese label for NovoGlic, a European committee nod on Kyinsu's conditions, a US review still in motion for Denecimig, and clinical data that require careful framing. The unchanged analyst ratings underline the point — a single positive announcement does not, by itself, rewrite the investment case.
