Nvidia shares climbed 3.2% to close at €167.54, riding a broader recovery in AI and semiconductor names. The bounce reversed part of a two-day selloff that had been driven by worries over the future pace of AI data-center construction — concerns tied to possible delays following Democratic gains in the midterm elections, particularly in Texas, alongside anxiety about high financing costs and lofty valuations across the AI complex. Reuters attributed the rebound to easing fears that Democratic victories could usher in tougher oversight of artificial intelligence, and it was careful to frame the earlier pressure as apprehension about potential regulatory fallout rather than any enacted rules.

The Santa Clara chipmaker's own pipeline is now supplying plenty of regulatory storylines of its own. According to Reuters, the U.S. Department of Justice has asked questions about the competitive implications of Nvidia's planned acquisition of Hugging Face, a deal carrying a $12.93 billion price tag. The transaction is expected to close in the first half of 2027, though it remains conditional on regulatory approvals, with Nvidia cast as buyer and Hugging Face as the target.

Data-center infrastructure sits at the center of the company's expansion on several fronts. Nvidia and Oracle said on October 27 that they will scale up Oracle Cloud Infrastructure's superclusters using Nvidia Vera Rubin systems, targeting a scale of multiple gigawatts. Vera Rubin NVL72 systems and Vera CPUs were already generally available on OCI, according to the companies. Four days earlier, on October 21, Nvidia and partners unveiled supply-chain capacity expansions spanning substrates, packaging, testing and optical components — including a $1.1 billion advance to King Yuan Electronics to reserve capacity.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Nvidia?

There is also a quieter, more speculative thread. Media reports suggest Nvidia is in talks with Brightspeed about converting part of the telecom company's buildings into small data centers, according to The Information. The report describes a possible use of existing facilities and does not present the discussions as a completed agreement.

Investors will get the hard numbers soon. Nvidia has scheduled its third-quarter fiscal 2027 earnings call for November 17, 2026, with the reporting period having ended on October 25. The company also confirmed it will take part in KubeCon + CloudNativeCon North America in Salt Lake City from November 9 to 12.
