Partners Group Pushes Deeper Into Private Credit as UK Trust Winds Down and Flagship SICAV Splits
Published on 10/12/2026 at 11:20 | Editorial boerse-global.dePartners Group is leaning harder into the private credit trade, unveiling a global multi-sector private credit income strategy on Friday that will operate as an open-ended evergreen vehicle. The Swiss asset manager is pitching the product to institutional investors and private wealth clients alike, with a target of high single-digit to low double-digit total returns, generated mainly through running income rather than capital appreciation.
The evergreen wrapper allows for continuous subscriptions and redemptions, giving investors more flexible liquidity management than traditional closed-end structures — a feature that has helped private credit draw growing interest from wealthy clients in the current rate environment.
A Broader Reshuffle of the Fund Shelf
The launch lands amid a wider overhaul of Partners Group's product architecture, aimed at matching the differing liquidity needs of its investor base. Roughly two weeks ago, the firm proposed splitting the Global Value SICAV, which carries a net asset value of EUR 6.6 billion, into two sub-portfolios. One sleeve would stay focused on long-term capital growth, while the other would pool distributions from portfolio realizations. The step still requires formal shareholder approval.
Alongside that, sweeping changes are in store for a UK-managed vehicle. Shareholders of Partners Group Private Equity Limited have voted to liquidate the entire portfolio, after 74.12% of issued capital opted for an exit. At an extraordinary general meeting, 99.89% of votes cast backed the orderly wind-down.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Partners Group?
Reuters reported that the liquidation process concerns only the closed-end UK investment trust, not the listed parent company. Distributions of realization proceeds are expected to flow back to shareholders semi-annually starting March 31, 2027. Media coverage suggested the decision may have deepened broader worries about redemptions and investor confidence across the private markets segment.
Shares Steady, but the Year's Scorecard Stays Weak
Trading reflected a measure of stabilization following the strategic push. Partners Group stock closed Friday at EUR 640.80, a gain of 1.9% on the day. The shares have since slipped 0.8% in the wake of the SICAV split announcement, and currently change hands at EUR 642.20.
The broader picture for the year remains subdued: the stock is down about 39% to 40% since the start of the year. Partners Group is responding to the market's caution with fresh product offerings, hoping to rebuild confidence through steady streams of income.
Investors will get a clearer read on client money flows and earnings in the new year. Partners Group will publish assets under management as of December 31, 2026 on January 13, 2027, with full-year financial results to follow on March 16, 2027.
