PepsiCo's Taco Bell Extension Lands as KFC Defection and Plant Closures Test the Narrative
Published on 10/28/2026 at 16:31 | Editorial boerse-global.dePepsiCo has locked in its fountain business at Taco Bell for another eleven years, extending a US drinks partnership announced on 22 October that now runs through 2036. The deal also keeps PepsiCo pouring in four overseas markets — Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland and Thailand — cementing a relationship that has become more strategically valuable as another restaurant tie unravels.
That contrast is hard to miss. KFC confirmed on 15 October that it will switch its US beverage supply from PepsiCo to Coca-Cola, drawing a line under a commercial relationship spanning roughly four decades. Coca-Cola products are expected to appear in American KFC restaurants by spring 2027, according to Reuters, which reported the change on 16 October. PepsiCo, for its part, said at the time that agreements with Taco Bell and with international KFC restaurants had already been renewed.
Analysts Probe the Wider Restaurant Book
The KFC defection prompted sell-side questions about PepsiCo's other restaurant partnerships, Reuters reported on 16 October. The financial hit from losing KFC's US business, however, was seen as manageable rather than material. The Taco Bell renewal — covering both the domestic business and the four international markets — offers a counterweight to that concern.
Two Plant Developments, Two Different Stories
On the production side, PepsiCo Beverages U.S. said on 19 October that it would shut its Knoxville, Tennessee, facility with immediate effect. Local sales and delivery teams will keep serving customers, and affected employees will receive a paid notice period along with continued pay and benefits through 1 January, plus transition support.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying PepsiCo?
Separately, a fire broke out at PepsiCo's Quaker Oats plant in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, on Saturday following a suspected explosion. AP reported no injuries, and the cause of the incident was under investigation.
Limited-Edition Push Sells Out Fast
PepsiCo rolled out banana-flavoured limited editions of Brisk and Gatorade on 20 October. The Brisk item sold out on TikTok Shop within hours, according to the company. The initiative also featured Quaker High Protein Instant Oatmeal Banana Chocolate.
On the broader product front, PepsiCo Beverages North America announced on 19 October a nationwide, time-limited launch of Pepsi Vanilla & Cream and Pepsi Zero Sugar Vanilla & Cream, sold in can multipacks and bottles.
