Redcare Pharmacy delivered double-digit sales growth and a sharply higher operating result for the third quarter of 2026 — and still ended Friday down 6.2%. The disconnect says less about what the company has just reported than about what management signalled for the months ahead.

Investors focused on two cautionary notes struck during Thursday's presentation. Sales of over-the-counter (OTC) products grew by less than 10% in October, a pace below the company's usual benchmark, with the cough-and-cold season off to a slower start than normal. The OTC growth rate had already eased to 9% in the quarter just reported, down from 12% in the prior three-month period. Management also flagged lower percentage growth rates ahead for prescription medicines in Germany, where the third quarter had still produced a 56% increase. That guidance reflects in part a comparison against a bonus change in the prior year — it concerns the pace of growth, not an expected decline in revenue.

Profit Gains Outpace the Top Line

The quarterly figures themselves were robust. Revenue rose 18% year on year to EUR 847 million, while adjusted EBITDA jumped 68% to EUR 29 million, lifting the corresponding margin to 3.4%. Net profit came in at EUR 1 million. Earnings thus expanded considerably faster than sales — a counterweight to the softer growth signals.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Redcare Pharmacy?

Redcare left its full-year targets untouched: revenue growth of 16%–18% and an adjusted EBITDA margin of 2.5%–3.0% for 2026. The OTC business is still expected to grow 10%–12%, and the German prescription segment retains its revenue goal of EUR 730–760 million.

Analysts, for their part, showed little concern. Deutsche Bank Research reaffirmed its buy rating and a price target of 104 euros on Friday, with analyst Jan Koch calling the quarterly numbers strong. Baader Bank had already repeated its buy recommendation and 85-euro target on Thursday.

Why Strong Numbers Weren't Enough

Media reports also pointed to profit-taking after the release, with the quarterly results having only slightly exceeded expectations. That shifted attention away from the improvements of the reporting period and toward the outlook for current trading. A slower growth rate, after all, does not amount to a sales decline — and the confirmed guidance keeps the cautious short-term commentary clearly separate from a profit warning.

The confirmed forecast and the guarded growth remarks now sit side by side. Friday's price action showed which of the two the market weighted more heavily. What matters next is how the weak start to October and the slower prescription trajectory square with an unchanged annual target.
